Chunks Survive Again, Finish 5th

The New York Chunks can look at Season 11 as a season with both positive and negative results. On the plus side, the Chunks improved in the win column posting 8 wins, compared with last season’s 7 wins, and with fewer blow-out losses finished in 5th place, better than Season 10’s 7th place finish. Also, after a relegation playoff miracle allowed the Chunks another season in Division II, the Chunks managed to avoid the relegation playoffs this time around. All this, and the Chunks roster has taken a few steps forward through training and a few roster moves. However, the Chunks will need to need to make longer strides if they are to keep pace in the very challenging D.II-I league next season, and one-game improvement in record will not be good enough if the Chunks hope to ever crack the playoffs, let alone contend for a league title eventually, as the league overall will likely continue to increase in toughness. Last season, only one team in the Chunks’ conference, the Great 8, actually relegated, and if that trend continues this season, the Chunks may find themselves in survival mode yet again.
