Chunks Limp into All Star Break

As expected, the New York Chunks have struggled to win games this season, slogging to a 4-9 record and sitting in 6th place at the All-Star Break. Though the Chunks have won two of their last four games, both road victories, the Chunks are clearly seasons away from contending for the league title in USA Division II.I, and the team has thus far not been able to beat any team currently with more than 3 wins. The Chunks’ remaining games in interconference play are against the two leading teams in the Big 8, so the Chunks will likely head into the second round of conference games without any additional wins.

Sitting two games behind the 5th place Scrap Heap Low Posters, the Chunks will need to steal a few games against better competition and benefit from additional help if they hope to avoid the dangers of a relegation playoff. For now, the team can optimistically hope to at least tread water and stay above 7th place where the Chunks finished last season in the Great 8, and perhaps maintaining a position with home court advantage in a relegation playoff will enable to the Chunks to survive to see yet another challenging season in Division II.
