NBBA Season 69 – Day 17 Recap (Tuesday, September 9, 2025)
by Buzz Beat Daily

Vertical Stun Knights, ETBU Edge Splash in Thriller
Day 17 was a night of heartbreak and shocks as 10inch Vertical marched into Kings Knights’ arena and stole a 106–97 win. The defeat was compounded for the Knights when Renan Kuyas sprained his knee, sidelining him for 11–22 days. Manager Kukas admitted he was left “speechless” after the double blow.

Meanwhile, in another dramatic finish, ETBU Tigers silenced Splash Gang’s home crowd in a nail-biter, 96–94. Leroy Varner’s clutch free throws sealed the deal, marking the second time this season ETBU have handed Splash a last-second defeat.

Mill City and Visionaries Claim Rare Road Wins
The defending champs Mill City Thunder took care of business with a 95–71 win at Beware of Dogs, powered by Bajrektarević’s 33 points. Elsewhere, the Visionaries played spoiler in Flashover’s gym, pulling out a 101–87 victory. Both road wins underscore how valuable — and rare — away triumphs remain in the NBBA.

Cavs and Lions Dominate, TarTeam and Flashover Rest Key Players
The Virginia Cavaliers unleashed their offense in a 141–90 demolition of the Mos Eisley Imperials, with W. Saucedo shining as MVP (28 pts, 18 reb). The LA Lions also steamrolled HumanFund 131–70 behind a balanced attack.

On the flip side, both TarTeam and Flashover clearly prioritized their looming USA Cup quarterfinal clashes, resting stars and paying the price. TarTeam fell 117–49 to the surging Silverbacks, while Flashover couldn’t hold off the Visionaries.

Stark Roll, Fury Still Winless
Stark Contrast stayed steady with a 103–75 win over Resurrected Fury, who remain mired without a victory.

Key Takeaways
• 10inch Vertical’s road stunner at the Knights’ house — plus Kuyas’ injury — shakes up the Big 8 playoff race.
• ETBU handed Splash Gang another heartbreaking home loss in the final seconds.
• Mill City and Visionaries delivered valuable road wins to tighten the standings.
• TarTeam and Flashover sacrificed league games with eyes on their USA Cup quarterfinals.
• Cavaliers and Lions flexed big-time offense, each dropping 130+ points.

Final Word
Day 17 delivered twists across the league — from Vertical’s shock win and ETBU’s clutch heroics, to the Cavaliers’ offensive explosion. With the Cup looming large and playoff seeding tightening, teams are being forced to choose their battles carefully.
