I think training will require some adjustment, because I need more allround players. I was mainly good in training guards.

Yeah, I trained guards from different countries onto U21 NTs and now, as a newly transformed HG team, am having to completely rethink training across the team.

I only just went HG to start this season, getting rid of all non-HG players and drafting as best I could. I managed to get my 7'3" MVP C but he has holes which will take time to train. I have trained bigs before but not as much as guards.

I'm also going to train up some SFs. I think they will evolve naturally under a HG team where training rotations will favour them. I have a nice SF trainee on my 2nd Team (Westopian Tigers) who will end up as an all-round SF. Sadly, he is only a Perennial Allstar, so will cap quickly.

As for training a HG team (and only 8 players at that this season!!!) I have certainly had to think through the training process.

We have two Official Threads for HGL, where you can find more information. Currently, we have a plan to create new threads for each season of HGL.

The main thread can be found here: (326589.1).
It includes most of HGL information, rules and explanations of practices we follow in HGL (in order to keep the league running as smoothly and fairly as possible). Most of the discussion about HGL is meant to take place in that thread, but as HGL is a new thing, we're at least currently "allowing" discussion on both threads.
(At the moment personally I prefer allowing conversation to take place anywhere it "organically" wants to happen, instead of trying to restrict that to only one thread where it can take place, as I think it's very important that we can keep HGL community active :).

Then there's also an Official HGL Scores Thread, here: (326590.1), which was originally planned only mainly for scores and box score posts related to HGL, but it is currently also used for discussion (and in terms of discussion, especially used to provide match reports/speculation on recent match results).

So welcome to Official Threads to follow conversation, read more about HGL, about our league system and rules, participating teams etc. Reading that through should give you pretty good idea whether or not you're interested in participating HGL in the future seasons - I hope you are! :)

Well, I dreaded it happening...and it did.

One of my players got injured tonight. The V-man pulled a groin and is out for 9-17 days.

My Level 6 trainer has some work to do. lol

Running an 8-man lineup just got really difficult.

Looks like it's back to the drawing board to create viable training plans.

That's a pity... It's going to pose another challenge with weekly GS optimization. Please remember to replace an injured player from your starting lineup for those affected HGL games... And if you set up 3 men lineups for cup/training matches, please make sure you will not accidentally do that for HGL matches.
Luckily though, it is quite rare to have two simultaneous injuries (not to mention 4) while having a good level doctor (which I think you had?), so you should be alright in terms of being able to dress enough players for matches.
And if my memory serves me, a good level doctor will likely help you a lot in terms of reaching that shorter expected injury duration (when the expected injury duration is as unsure as it is in this case, 9-17 days).
Let's just hope you won't be fouling out a lot in the next couple of weeks, as that'd make your bench even thinner on next matches!

Yes, they add at least a touch of realism here and there, and add a good mix to the game like you well put it.

If I'd take this years' HGL journey for my team as an example, I lost young seasons' most important match to Suuret Muinaiset by 3 points (practically by 1, as 2 free throws were sunk in at 48:00 on the game clock), and due to earlier injury of Saku Sorvoja (normally my 3rd best player, last season rating 13.0, 14,1ppg, 4,3apg) his game shape hadn't recovered to better than 6, so I "had to" take him in from the bench instead of starting him as I usually do. He had only 11.5 rating, and Haanpää who was replacing him as a starter was rated only 10.5 for the match.
So, would have I won this match if Sorvoja wouldn't have gotten injured earlier? I think so, but again I find this bittersweet, as I love this kind of realistic touches in BB - injuries usually really affect game shape, so I'm glad it does so in BB as well.

Also, some would say, that we're lucky we don't have career ending, or full season injuries in BB! I wouldn't mind those, but I guess many would..

I had a great start in the swedish top div as homegrown this season.
But alas looks rough now.
Many buy players when they reach the top :)

I have been up and down often through the years.
Perhaps I managed to stay once a second season, forgotten...

Important to win a few games so not boycott from fans.
I will focus and fixing 2 more wins.
And no more cup after next game - that is long run - nice.

And voila perhaps pull a nice talent :)

Already had 2 internacional centers for Spain u21 and played lot of matches. Spain won silver medal.
Had to sell one ( huge salary, more than 100k ) and kept the other one.
Now training another guard 19 years old U21 prospect and 2 more 18 years old guards.
Future looks good...

Great to see "new" managers to join the conversation as well! :)

So, if I checked it correctly from your transfer history, you've been running totally home-grown team for almost one calendar year (so about 4 BB seasons)? Can I ask that is this your first "run" as totally homegrown, or have you been part of the HG community for a long time (on and off as totally homegrown team)?

Your future sure does look bright, as you have some highly potential young players in your team (and I suspect there might be more to come, as you likely are in a somewhat optimal league level in terms of being able to draft high potential players without being subjected to the same level "drafting competition" with other managers, as you possibly would in top level league for instance).

Speaking of bright future (and your future plans), now that you are a HG team and are wtiting to this forum thread, may I ask whether or not you have also been following just quite recently established Home-Grown League (HGL) Official Threads (here: (326589.1), and here: (326590.1)? :)

I'm just gathering/forming a list of teams (found from here: (326589.154) who are interested in joining for Season 2 of HGL, which is scheduled to start on next Buzzerbeater season, and for which participating managers are doing some Pickup (PU) match organizing during this season's Buzzerbeater playoffs (match organization process will start approximately at the time when semifinal-stages are reached in everyone's own Buzzerbeater leagues).

So if you, Bonaro 72, or anyone with 100% homegrown team who plans to stay 100% homegrown for at least the full duration of next Buzzerbeater season, and who isn't yet playing in HGL this season would be interested in joining for Season 2, please let me know by BBMail or by sending message on an Official HGL Threads and I'll add you to a list of interested teams. :)
(Of course this goes with current HGL managers as well, but I believe all you are already aware of it after reading Official HGL Threads). So far we already have few new interested participants ready/willing to join for Season 2, but we haven't received an announcement from all current HGL managers whether or not they'd wish to continue playing in HGL on Season 2, so all this possibly affects the number of open positions for HGL Season 2.
