This is what I’m trying to do. I had “premature” success last season and ended up promoting, but my timeframe plan had me ready to promote to D2 in the next two seasons. So I’m focusing on my draftee(s), taking the losses + revenue, and hoping on a good draft end of season, and pressing on. I do like the added difficulty of it. I knew a guy who would use a training regimen on players 2 years apart in age, so 18 - 20 - 22, (for example). And when he felt like value was high he would sell one and replace. I thought it was a good idea, I’m just not as patient. I’ve got two guys who are 21, and a guy who is 20, who are all 95+ TSP. And I tend to focus on tertiary skills first (for their position) and then begin to work at the more expensive primary skills.

Beginning with the end in mind, I will have to sell one at some point (offseason?) I am sure, and rotate in a younger draft pick for next season.

What's going on over in the LA Lions front office? Harold Miner sold off 3 bench pieces from a 15-1 juggernaut and tried to sell his 3rd best player too. A 2nd straight season selling off key pieces in the home stretch and tanking the playoffs to earn a little extra money?

Eh, smoke and mirrors. I still agree with your preseason assessment. I got all of the top teams at home the first two-thirds, including you. I got rebuilding teams on the road, and questionable teams during weeks when they had a tournament match that needed more than scrubs. I didn't play anyone tough in the tournament until after I picked up the $1.30 during AS week. My ego loves the sound of a "15-1 juggernaut", but I can't let a lucky schedule dictate what I want to do or when I want to do it. I don't want to deal with restructuring the team, playoffs, and possible promotion during the middle of December, with the caveat that I did almost add a 150 TSP player (49152695) into the salary I freed up as recently as a few days ago.

...and tried to sell his 3rd best player too...

This part... may be debatable :X

That's very disciplined, hats off to you for not getting sucked into the fun of a 15-1 start and sticking to the course for what's best long-term.

You know best if Pagan is your 3rd bets guy. I was surprised to see how much OD he had on him as a PF!

I was cursing the BB gods for my scheduling luck this season. I had to play the top 4 teams in the Big 8 all on the road (based on records at the end of inter-conference play). Made for a grueling attempt to get the auto-promo slot to NBBA. As of now, it looks like I will get it if I can win out. There is 1 other D2 team with a single loss (Resurrected Fury) but I have a good buffer on PD. If I hadn't lost to 10inch verticals though I would have a much less stressful final 4 games of the regular season.

Top 3 of both conferences looks pretty locked in. Chance Stark can sneak back into the 4th seed even after last night's loss to Mambas. They'd need to beat Lions on the road, doable now that they've sold off a lot of players.

The psychology of the TL is so interesting. Stark Contrast has been listing Ade Free the last few weeks for 1.2M to 1.3M. No takers. Lowers the price to 1.1M, attracts 2 interested buyers, and eventually sells for over 1.4M. I guess those teams only overpaid by 100-200K but every cent counts

Haha yeah - I have been shopping him around all season, wouldn't mind keeping him but was just seeing if I can get a bid since I have a couple ideas I want to build my team around for next season. Sometimes all it takes are 2 people getting into a bidding war.

In a way I am just trying to get as much money as possible while keeping the flexibility, to see what I can get on the TL. Next season I have to go all in cause Roscoe is very close to NT and his salary is gonna balloon even further.

also interesting dynamics for tomorrow's league game, we will see who ends up securing the last playoff spot. You have an active role in determining that as well haha

That does seem to be the meta strategy. If you are safe from relegation but not competing for promotion, dump some guys at the end of the season to save salary while loading up your finances to make a splash in the offseason.

I was in a similar spot this season, where my trainees salaries are all going to balloon this offseason and I needed to make my push now. If I win against Mambas, I’ll lock up auto promotion so I will be taking the game seriously. Probably helps out your chances to make playoffs, although from a finance perspective it might be better to be the 5 seed and win 2-0 in the relegation series so you get an extra gate receipt.

Roscoe is a very good player, I saw his skills last time he got listed and I’m curious where he stands now after a few more seasons of training!
