Did anybody draw a challenging or at least competitive cup match this week?

I'm playing a pretty solid IV team. I should win but I'll need to use close to my best lineup.

Playing a pretty good III team on the road, so it looks like I'll be juggling my lineups this week a little.

On Alvarez's injury: is frustrating, but it seems realistic to me. He's an older player, so I can see why he'd spend more time on the sidelines and in the trainer's room.

I could've done without the skill drop that accompanied the injury, but that's realistic too. All this makes the game especially challenging and intriguing, IMO. I have no desire to sell off my roster or give up. It would be kind of fun to start all over though ...

I think that the skill drop being associated with the injury is giving the game design a little to much credit, but it is sort of nice to think it is that well thought out. I personally don't have any problem with you breaking down the team and starting over - I'm going to be stuck doing that in the next season or two as well do to an aging roster.

That game reminded me a lot of one I played against Burger Chefs when I first promoted to III, that ended 57-43. One of those games where neither team was giving an inch, but one was clearly better. And I guess BB's reward for me for not rolling over was a late run of meaningless points to turn what was essentially a 25+ point loss into 12 in the PD column. I'll take it.

It was an interesting game. Since I knew you had a tough schedule, I figured I could loosen up just a touch. I played all my best OD players, mostly to the detriment of rebounding. It did bother me a great deal to give up all those offensive rebounds and you slowed down my offense a little too effectively for my taste.
I was impressed with your team. If Dennison had played more or if you'd put in effort, you might have won. I certainly have no illusions about easily beating you at your place or in the playoffs.
Good game - even though I was up by 20+ for much of the game, it still felt competitive.

Thanks. I'm definitely having to spread my lineup a little thinner this week because of the three tough road games and my pathological inability to completely throw a game unless it's a Cup game against a much better team. TTS and I were in the league chat during the game and I would have sworn that you were running a 1-3-1 with the amount of offensive boards I was getting, though usually that would force more turnovers too. Now that I'm looking at the boxscore again, though, the rebounding isn't as off as it seemed at first - since I took (and missed) so many more shots, there were a lot more opportunities for me to have offensive boards. I will say that I'll be quite happy if the rematch also sees me getting 30 more shot attempts and as many steals as turnovers, and of course not missing any FT's - but like this, it may still not be enough to win.

The offensive rebounds were, I think, due almost entirely to my decision to start (9357349) at PF. He probably forced a few misses by Busch (I like the Michelob line, btw), but clearly allowed him to snatch a ton of offensive rebounds.

My turnovers also bothered me. I don't know if my guys just had an off game or if your players match up particularly well vs. my mine, defensively. 15 turnovers with only 16 assists is quite disturbing, especially since I started my best guards.

If you watch the game in the viewer on the site, on the bottom half under the play by play is the chat applet. Most of the time on game nights at least TicTacShaq and I are on there and other folk occasionally pop in as well.
