Week 9 Power Rankings Continued
5. Rip City Revival (5)
A loss to Linndale in a return to conference play followed by a drubbing of bottom seeded Seattle this week, let's Rip City remain in 5th in these rankings. Potential for a similar outcome after this upcoming week as they face War Birds and then host Philly Dribble at home. Will they turn it on to move up the standings? Or will they stand pat at 3rd in the Big 8? While their EFFG is middle of the pack, their OPP EFFG is 2nd in the league. Their tough defense makes games interesting based on different matchups. They missed their chance against Linndale this week - but something tells me they'll be able to make up for it with a shot to host the first round of the playoffs.

6. Mighty Moose Rockets (6)
Hutch44 appears to be in the midst of a serious fire sale to sell off his two stars, Walenty Kofan(#2 in REB/game and #8 in PTS/game in Div III.11) and Jean-Louis Fleurent (#5 in PTS/game #4 in FG made in Div III.11). If they manage to sell those two, the rest of their schedule might all be losses, assuring them of a relegation series most likely with the 6 seed in the Great 8 (again, I'm too lazy to go through the schedule to see if there's any real way either Seattle or War Birds could win the next 5 games to displace MMR to 7th). But, if Hutch44 can't sell them for a profit, they could be a problem and vie for a playoff spot still. MMR leads the league in FT% with 82%.

7. San Dominica Warriors (7)
After their "Not in My House" loss to Philly on Saturday, as previously described, San Dom pulled off the upset at home against 2nd seeded Linndale to hold steady at 7th in these rankings. I feel like 5th-10th in these rankings could be in any order, depending on the week of games. Two easy matchups for them this week should solidify their position before vital matchups against MMR and Lion Rebels in the final full week of the season. San Dom leads the league in Offensive Rebounds/game, with 15.1 (which isn't a great stat, but hey, they're good at rebounding their own missed shots!).

8. Lion Rebels (8)
The only thing I'll say about the Lion Rebels loss to War Birds Saturday night is this: why the eff is my backup C (whose probably not qualified to be a backup in this division) taking the last second shot after starting C Terry Armstead tied it up with 30 seconds left (and certainly, nothing against SF Rajko Peklar who scored the go ahead two with only 13 seconds left). Stupid training minutes getting in the way of winning! Some relief came in the form of holding Philly Dribble to only 75 points on Tuesday night, which was a good thing since my squad only scored 9 points in the 4th quarter. A tough matchup against Linndale on Saturday, followed by a potential look-past game next Tuesday against Seattle. Will it be a revenge game for their early season loss? Or will the Rebels continue to their trend of losing games they should win?

9. The Beer Bellys (9)
A tough loss to #3 Żubr Białystok followed by a convincing win over Miami leaves thatguy's team solidly in 4th place in the Great 8. and looking at the schedule, it's pretty easy to believe that's where they'll be at the end of it all, which isn't a bad place to be considering it's their first season in Div III. Their EFFG number was eclipsed by their OPP EFFG this week, so while they're ranked 6th in EFFG, their 11th place ranking in OPP EFFG is what is holding them back.

10. War Birds (10)
It seems like the Big 8 is just a tougher conference this season, with War Birds only winning 2 of their 9 Big 8 matchups, while winning 3 of their 8 Great 8 matchups with some daunting teams remain on their schedule and, I'd guess (though I'm not bitter about it at all ;) ) that they shot their shot against Lion Rebels and the rest may be downhill. But I do think they still have a chance to compete for the last relegation spot over Seattle.

Week 9 Power Rankings Part 3
11. Żubr Białystok (11)
Żubr's high scoring defeat of Beer Bellys on Saturday night seems to prove my power rankings wrong, especially since thatguy out-efforted whitestok, with Żubr outscoring Beer every quarter to take a seemingly insurmountable 22-point lead into the final frame. whitestok had 3 players score at least 20 points in the match, including backup PG Aleksa Kričković, which was fortunate since he was -10 on the night. They face the giant Gremlins on Saturday before what looks like easy coasting through the bottom tier of the Great 8 before a semi-interesting matchup with Miami to end the season. All told, they should remain on track for a first round playoff loss.

12. Miami Cleo (12)
Miami is sitting at 5-12 on the season, but thanks to point differential, unless pintipv starts winning a bunch of games, they're easily in line for a 5th place relegation matchup against Big 8's 7th seed, which could be favorable, depending on how things turn out on that side. A dominating win over pintipv solidified their position before suffering a loss to Beer. Most likely two losses coming up this week before they get a chance to balance it out to have a chance to go 8-14 versus 7-15 on the season. Unfortunately for packer_22, his squad leads the league in lowest average FT%, just barely making more than 1/2 their attempts on the season (that's about 160 total points!).

13. Seattle SuperSonicz (13)
Seattle finds themselves back in last place in the Big 8 thanks to an 11-point difference to War Birds. Two losses this week, including a relatively close one to MMR leaves them at the bottom with some difficult matchups the next four games before a potential tie breaking final game against the Birds. Statistically speaking, Seattle is basically in the middle of almost every major stat, both for themselves and what they allow from their opponents. Their biggest problem is that while they're not the worst team in OPP EFFG, they're also not a great team in EFFG. They've had 15 (15!) transfers since just before the start of Season 57, selling off 7 players and replacing them with 8 new ones. Overall, the turnover doesn't seem to have helped as they're looking at ending up with a similar record as last season. But time will tell - maybe the fruits will be borne next season!

Week 9 Power Rankings Part 4
14. pintipv (14)
A win over Dallas put them at 5 wins on the season with another potential win against Weather Society on Saturday before having to face Żubr at home. There may be potential for a win there, but after that, it's looking scarce as they finish the season playing currently seeded #2, #1, and #4. pint is allowing the second most points per game this season at 110.2 coupled with the second highest allowed FG% (47.2%).

15. Dallas Bomskwad (15)
Dallas actually improved their season average EFFG by 3 points this week, to push them up ahead of Weather for "winner" of the worst EFFG in the league and combined with their 14th ranked OPP EFFG (which dropped a bit), they find themselves still in the deathly hallows of Div III.11. They're only averaging 71.9 ppg with their highest game total being 117 in a win against Weather. But since then, they haven't scored 80 points in a game, including games ending with 39, 46, 46, & 49 points total. If I've learned anything this season - a strong core group of 5-8 players is much better than a single titan. Fortunately for The Architect, as I've mentioned before, he's got to be sitting on some dough to rebound after this season.

16. Weather Society (16)
Melon Collie's squad has given up the most points of any team this season, rapidly approaching the 2000-point mark and his OPP EFFG has eclipsed the 155 mark two weeks in a row. Weather Society is at or near the bottom of nearly every major statistical category, but one thing they do have going for them is they lead the league in least personal fouls per game with only 11.5. The last thing I'll say about Melon's squad is that it's hard to compete in a division when you're spending more than $100k less than the 2nd lowest salaried team in the division (also, well under the salary floor!).

A Team Has No Name
I've enjoyed these - sorry for not being very active in here.

I'm in a weird spot with my team. I think that Kofan is a D.II-level player, but Fleurent just didn't develop into the type of player that I was hoping for. I spread his training pops around a bit too much and now he's just a decent SF/PF.

I probably would need to pick up 2 guards in the $20-40k salary range to really compete for promotion, but my revenue situation doesn't really allow for it at the moment. We'll see what happens this week, but I think my goal may be to just avoid relegation this season and go into a full-blown rebuild next season.

Along those same lines - you all are way too scared of my team - I'm probably the most "normaled" team in the league. . the last 8 league games my opponent has gone normal versus my TIE

100% of the teams ahead of me have played me normal for each match:

Philly Dribble: normal both times versus my TIE
Linndale: normal both times versus my TIE
Gremlins: normal versus my TIE
Ashkickers: normal versus my TIE

Way too much respect. Thanks for all of the love ; )

On a totally new subject: mismanaging my team's game shape is my favorite thing to do. I don't even have to pay attention to do it; I can just passively mismanage it by not setting a lineup. Woooohoooo!
