I don't know who Hrudley is, but I'd like to say to Rik Smits et. al. that they'd better bring their A game if they want to beat me any time soon.

No worries for you - I know about hrudey from a long time sleeping with his wife, and he's got nothing on you. ;)

I like my translation better, incidentally.

I don't expect to defeat you this season or for you to be around this league long enough for me to reach a point where I will. I ended up being 0-11 against one of the teams in my III before finally beating them last season, so the thought of losing twice to you this season just isn't that imposing yet. The important thing for me is trying to get a chance to measure up against teams that are better than mine and to strive to give a decent competitive shot. Or, at least, talking them into quitting, but clearly you're not buying that. ;)

I'd wish you good luck, but really I just hope neither of us suffers injuries, and I don't think you'll need luck beyond that.

If past history (as opposed to, what, future history, Hari Seldon?) is any indication, you'll get that urge around the end of interconference, retool and pick up a couple of massive animatronic donkeys and a case of cheese whiz, spend a couple of weeks reveling in the wake of peanut-oil soaked carcasses you leave in your wake, and then decide that you really have been meaning to try to figure out how to build a successful Inside Isolation/Outside Box and One team, and sell off everyone who you think doesn't fit that concept, and then realize that the guys you have left also can't run it, and decide to bank a little cash before the next NT/U21 election.

Though, to be fair, you might prefer Velveeta.

Translation, even though Small Fries only started five players and let me cream them I've still not forgotten how they beat me last year, and I don't think that the Kelt's or RiverDogs are going to rest all of their starters when they play me.

You've got that pretty dang accurate, except for the part of my guys that are left not being able to play in the system I want. All but one is set for my system so I don't have much more to build upon other than a few more players for depth ;). Pretty accurate though.

PS-I have no desire to run for U21 so that won't be happening.

Oh, I'm allowed to take some liberties in the interest of entertainment. I mean, we all know you don't fry with peanut oil, and you're a tartar sauce man rather than Cheez Whiz.

Did anybody draw a challenging or at least competitive cup match this week?

I'm playing a pretty solid IV team. I should win but I'll need to use close to my best lineup.

Playing a pretty good III team on the road, so it looks like I'll be juggling my lineups this week a little.

On Alvarez's injury: is frustrating, but it seems realistic to me. He's an older player, so I can see why he'd spend more time on the sidelines and in the trainer's room.

I could've done without the skill drop that accompanied the injury, but that's realistic too. All this makes the game especially challenging and intriguing, IMO. I have no desire to sell off my roster or give up. It would be kind of fun to start all over though ...

I think that the skill drop being associated with the injury is giving the game design a little to much credit, but it is sort of nice to think it is that well thought out. I personally don't have any problem with you breaking down the team and starting over - I'm going to be stuck doing that in the next season or two as well do to an aging roster.
