My first game (134074404) with this team is a memorable one with my 18-year old PG having a triple-double 😀

Great to hear, thanks for taking a look at it! Like you noticed, we have participating teams with top 8 salary budgets between $639K and $55K (like you can see from this list created by MrJ, here: (326589.52), so salary itself hasn't been decisive factor in terms of being invited to play in HGL.
And like you likely noticed, we use a league system where 75% of teams reach playoffs, so you don't have to have a top team to be able to enjoy post season play. For instance a team with 13th highest top 8 salaries is paying $148K for their top8, and 12th team (12 best reach playoffs) $196K. However, when you train efficiently, you can accomplish big things in 2-4 seasons... so just stick with it, keep on learning, and enjoy the ride... I would like to assure you it's going to be exciting one, and much more rewarding than if you'd buy your way into success. :)

In the case if we'll have more interest towards HGL in the future, then if we couldn't expand the league in a major way, we'd have to look at different possibilities on how to decide who gets to participate, and there are lots of options how that could be decided...
For instance it could be decided based on
- the order of announcement of interest (this could potentially leave high salary teams out though, if they would announce their interest as one of the later teams), or
- playing a Play-in playoff series between interested teams, or
- playing a short league between interested participants (some predetermined amount of teams would clinch a place in HGL for next season),
- some kind of combination of these, etc.

But that'd be positive problem anyway. I can't recall if I've written it on a rule set of HGL, but my idea has always been that you can't lose your position in HGL, if you just don't break major rules and are willing to continue.
At least not without lack of success in some kind of Play-in/Playoff/Relegation League etc. (that I mentioned before), if there is so much interest towards HGL that we couldn't accept all willing participants in any given season. We hope that all managers would be happy with HGL and would keep playing in it for years to come, but of course in reality, sometimes some managers might decide to not continue in HGL, and places can then be filled with new teams (possibly without having to go through "Play-in" playoffs/-league etc.).

Meanwhile, we're glad to have you onboard, and please keep on participating on conversations here on this thread - and 'Home-Grown League (HGL) Season 1 Official Thread' also welcomes you and all interested managers to not only read, but also to participate in conversation whether or not you are currently playing in HGL! :)

Nice work, Dutch Farmer and it is great to see yet another HG team.

Have you played BB before? If not, this particular forum is a great place to have any questions you have answered. as there is a wealth of BB knowledge here.

As others have already said..."Welcome aboard!"

@ Wagner, it will, as you say, be a good problem if we have to expand the HGL in coming seasons.

Thanks! Happy to be here. Yes I have played BB before and I have good experience in training players for the U21 and NT. For me the most important thing is to be patient and have fun 😀

Good to know. Welcome back. I, too, have recently returned.

Good luck this season.

@ Wagner, it will, as you say, be a good problem if we have to expand the HGL in coming seasons.

Indeed... We'd still be able to accept at least maybe 1-2 more teams and being able to retain the same league system (and keep the amount of work required in running the league at reasonably close to the same level it is now).

In the case of adding 2 teams for instance, possibly we could alter it slightly, so that at least similar amount of teams would reach post-season play than currently (75%). For instance so that 2 best would be guaranteed a place for the Second Round of Playoffs automatically (instead of current 4), and teams on regular season positions 3-14 would play on the First Round of Playoffs. (That way 77,8% of teams would be included in the postseason play). This is very flexible league system in many ways. And if we'd ever have to decide rankings for teams not reaching Second Round of Playoffs, it would be possible to play such 'classification match playoffs' during regular HGL Playoffs, etc. However, currently that's not needed.

And if it would be the case that some current HGL managers would decide to step aside after one or few seasons, then we'd of course be talking about replacing project, not an expansion of the league.

The biggest challenge in major expansion is the nature of HGL, as nothing happens automatically. Time is going to show how much work this is for me to handle anyway, but I'm giving it my best.
There's a lot of work in getting things running with already 16 teams, let alone if some additional bonus aspects such as statistics are being permanently introduced to HGL.

And if some would like the idea (on paper) of dividing HGL to Premier League and Division 1, then I want to remind these people that the amount of matches would then be about doubled (if same amount of matches would be played per team per regular season), which adds significantly to the amount of work included. Also, if same kind of amount of matches (than in HGL currently) would be played in two different level divisions with 8 teams in both, then it would be necessary to play twice against same opponent during season, which is more boring than playing against different opponent each round.
Other option would've been to include a lot less regular season matches - during season 1 of HGL it would've meant only 7 (!) regular season matches per team, and I guess some (many?) would consider that an inadequate amount.

So I far prefer current league system (instead of different level divisions) used in HGL, as it gives maximum amount benefit for least amount of work (and removes many questionable/arguable decisions, such as at which level would new teams joining HGL would start from, etc.), and is flexible in terms of adding more teams to postseason play if we slightly expand HGL in the future.
