You can win with a lot of tactics in this game, but right now Look Inside is the best overall. While it may be best per unit of salary and overall, the players needed to make it work well can be more expensive because you need guards with high OD (most expensive skill on the TL for good reason) and secondaries are more important overall (high secondaries add significant price on TL but are generally worth it).

When you are just starting out, I think base offense is the best.
-It is versatile; you can run it with lots of different rosters.
-It is forgiving; you can not know much about the game and still make it work.
-It is powerful; don't think that just cause it's easy to use it's only for beginners.
-It adapts to the team you are playing against more than other offenses, exploiting their weaknesses.
-It encourages building a balanced roster which is a great strategy for any team but especially newer ones.

yeah, what w alloy said.

There are also other offenses too, but LI is the way to go.

Look inside is an offense that gives it to your bigs, they go to the paint and shoot in.

Guards would need some driving too to make LI work I think as well.

Passing is a major too in LI. and then for bigs Inside shoting is a MUST

for defending LI, you have to have great inside defense, which would make it hard or the good IS bigs to score on you.

BUT like w alloy said, you can win with various tactics, just need some work

I advise trying to find a mentor on the offsite (Like I showed you in the first post, but here you go if you need to be reminded(http://s3.zetaboards.com/BuzzerBeater_USA_NT/index/) and BB Mail Mod-jfarb (28800)

if not, you can ask questions here and a lot of great people will answer

Back to the tactics you have to decide what YOU like. Not what others like. If you like Guards bombing threes, then you're a princeton guy, so what if you do princeton? At least you're not the 90% of other people who use LI all the time.

If you like Motion, go with Motion....just saying you decide what you want your team to be focused on.

Right now I'd say since your throwing this season away test out some tactics. see what they look like. Test em. And then at the end of the season you will know what Offensive scheme you like and use it.

as for defense, man to man is the ideal tactics and like, 95% of BB teams use it.

there are also other defensive schemes, but I think someone else would be better explaining it.

Given that you just started, i'd grab an advanced trainer, and choose either guards or bigs to develop. Work on understanding game shape, and once you feel comfortable with how to do that, prepare your arena for moving to D.IV while getting ready to improve your veterans that aren't going to get development.

Rome wasn't built in a day, don't try to master every aspect of this game in a few days.

I would rather not play this game in some sort of formulaic, mathematical way. All this game is is a source of fun lol. Its meaningless in my life other than recreation. Why would I play it in a way that you admit isn't any fun? And I disagree that that is the only way to succeed in this game. The Orangemen will hopefully serve as proof of this in the near future :)

I'll say only one thing that you should keep in mind while playing bb is that its a marathon, you must not be the fan of Bolt.
