So I have no right to speak about what it takes to succeed in D.IV, having been relegated from their twice and only lasting one season each time. But I'm going to share a summary of my BB career, and maybe after you read it you won't worry so much about the prospect of relegation:
I started out as a newly-created team in IV.13, and I was quickly outmatched. In fact I temporarily lost interest in the game and didn't log in for a while, only logging in a couple weeks later when I was online and bored with a ton of time on my hands. I bought some guards, didn't train them well, sold them for a lot less money than I paid for them, spent some scouting points, found a nice-looking 7-footer who turned out to be Herbert Jones
(22088501), a $5K salary 18yo PAS PF. All in all, not a very impressive first season as a manager. Then having finished in 8th, I relegated to V.204, an all-bot league where I went 22-0 without changing my roster at all, investing every cent into my arena. At the end of that season, I got Delbert Hogue
(23484806), a $5K salary 18yo 6'6" PAS SF. I promoted to IV.43 and again found I sucked, so I put all my efforts into training Hogue and Jones out-of-position as necessary. I relegated again, with a pretty crappy draft except for an 18yo 6'0" SS guard with a $2.9k salary, Giuseppino Marasca
(24733085). I've had some bad luck in the draft, as in no MVPs or HOFs were even in any of my 3 drafts. I relegated to V.136, where I am now. I spent the season until the all-star break training all three of Hogue, Jones, and Marasca. I sold Marasca for $132K and have been training Hogue and Jones at PG, despite a two-week injury to Jones. Now I'm looking to promote with a massive arena
(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/team/28206/arena.aspx) which I've been consistently selling out and will probably sell out at higher prices next season with the promotion bonus. and Hogue and Jones are both pretty stellar trainees, at least in my opinion.
Jones (20yo, 89 skill points): 10/6/7/7/11/7 13/11/9/8 1/4/3
Hogue (19yo, 80 skill points): 8/6/9/8/10/10 7/7/8/7 4/8/2
Was it fun getting beat up in D.IV? Hell no. Was it more fun beating up on bot teams? Not really, no. But is my team a lot better for it? Absolutely. Am I going to do it again? Maybe, since I still have a lot of out-of-position training to do (I'm looking for +2 OD, +2 PA, +2JR for Herbert Jones before I cap him off with inside skills, which with his age and height could take more than a season for just those six pops). So basically what I'm trying to say is, relegation isn't a whole lot of fun, but it can actually be a great thing for your team. And plus also, you have a plan for your team, which is more than I ever had.
Also my weekly profit is $117K/week.
