False. There are games like this that are completely free.

Well, maybe if we see the bill of the server it is not free at the end of the month.
I have no idea how much money goes to hosting expenses, but I think it is not exactly free.

Servers go very badly in this game. I already have lost two players because the players database chokes at seemingly random times. And of course the scheduled simulation events often go painfully slow.

There can be two reasons for this:
a) the servers are very cheap servers, maybe even free servers.
b) BB-Marin is unable to maintain a database properly.

I think that the answer is both of them.

I am giving a try to hardwood college basketball

Its game engine is similar to BB's. And it is in active development.

It has recruitment and experience instead of training or trading. Much more realistic.

But I don't know if the idea of "college basketball" will engage many European users.

Creo que es tan "similar", que yo creo que está inspirado en BB... tanto que en las normas te habla de que escribas BB-Mails... a ver si va a estar Marin detrás también del otro juego y le estás dando publicidad (por cierto, creo que acción prohibida, pero ¡qué más da!, ¿no?. Por eso lo escribo en español... entre otras cosas)

This is my game/country/town and I would like it to be better, not going other place.
And I would expect other managers to want the same and fight for that, instead of fooling themselves into believing that they live in a good system.

Corrupt politicians take the job, making fake promises, to get easy money in spite of making their area of influence a worse place. Fair comparison.

Hardwood is inspired by BB, BB is inspired by HT ... you don't want to invent the wheel twice!

I would risk my life for HW's admin not being BB-Marin.

This game was excellent IMO. The best game I've ever known, equal to the Civilization series. And there are parts of the game that are still playable. I am enjoying my new team.
But that is because the original programmers made an great work, the game was robust enough to endure BB-Marin for some years.
Now the is falling into pieces. BB-Marin trespassed the sacred line and spoiled the game engine. And obviously he is unable to program a not-flash adaptation for the viewer. But still somewhat enjoyable.

"Sociological experiment" was a snobbish overstatement from my part. We all try to understand each other's behaviour as we are social animals.

I decided to quit my previous team (for the reasons I explained in the Spanish forum), I fired my players, sent a last BB-mail and left. I don't know what happened after that and I don't want to know.

don't know about what the bottom half said, but I drool at the prospect of the upper part. how do I find out more, I have some great ideas for a game like this
