I would never wish injuries on anyone, and I am one of the ones that wish that injuries were not part of this stupid game....but that said, I am going to do all I can to capitalize on this new opportunity to steal this series!

As you should! This injury presents a challenge for my team; other players will need to step up.

on the theory that misery loves company, i just made a colossal misjudgment with regards to Hinkle. i was certain that guy would go for $4.5 - $5 million, and his closing bid time was in middle of the night for me. i wake up to see he went for an unbelievable $3.6 million. bottom line: i went with someone who is a lesser player, paid more, and missed a chance at a NT player and the merchandise subsidy.

you at least are assured of a title and a round in the B3 -- i just have another Italian big man your guys can push around.

Yeah, i'm shocked. I monitored I would've bid if I were in Div III!

Bubble starting to burst? I don't think so but it would be great if it did!

Your story saddens me; at least he's young, you can always get your money back next season.

Meanwhile I'm trying to find players two beef up my roster for B3; I'm looking at foreign players, hoping to get some deals, but I would like to stay all American, which is challenging, especially in this economy -- oy vey.

I love defense, so your game was a thing of beauty to me.

Thanks.

You don't have to answer this until after our series is over...but I am curious what your strategy is in terms of beefing up your roster for the B3. Are you just looking for added depth, or are you addressing a weakness? Your team (at full strength) seems pretty stacked and completely balanced. Your results are far better than your team ratings as well.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing your B3 run...might be making USA history! We'll be cheering for you!

My main focus will be to find replacements for P.Duff (G) and A.James (C), adding better rounded players to help strengthen my 8-man rotation. Ideally, I would love to add another NT player, possibly a big -- someone with high IS. Although, financially, my best option might be to add depth with aging foreign players. I have approximately 2.5m, which would be great if this was s23. I'll look to further address this situation after the finals, maybe I'll poach some rebuilding B3 teams.

good luck to both you and Jason this weekend -- i admire the way you matched Jason's generosity by having one of your key players get injured and leveling the playing field. and i like the way Jason could very well win the NBBA title (again!) with a PD that indicated he lost by 20 points a game.

crazy end to a surprising season.

now my goal in this game is to master the TL -- every season it makes a fool out of me:

like others, i was fooled by the late season rush by many managers to buy anybody that could help with salvaging the season or winning. prices were crazy.

the initial post-"playoff eligibility" period brought a different set of bidders, including myself. having a few bucks in the bank and, in retrospect, little patience, a number of young (below 32) players went for extraordinary amounts. Hinkle's price was very much an anomaly, one that i still don't understand, but i bet we see him on the market sometime this season and he will go for well over $4 million then.

now we have moved to very discriminating buyers -- a buyer's market, i suppose -- where to be over 32 or over is to be treated as extraordinarily toxic. i have my Pintore for sale, well below what BB thought was his market value (which i now realize reflects the late-season madness, not now) and he is drawing very little interest and certainly no bids. i figure there is a pretty decent chance he is not sold, and a good likelihood he is sold to the first bidder, with a small chance of a bidding war among the managers who have bookmarked him (which would mean a higher price for me!). i'm in a position to live with any result, but with a little sense i could have had a much better outcome.
