I'll say this 2 u. if you have just watched kobe play, then dirk, lbj, durant, wade, rose and others anyone who has any basketball sense, or not can see that kobe is the greatest in the game today, and most definately better than dirk. really it's not worth arguing. kobe has dirk beat in everything except rebounds, fg percentages, and blocks. and may i say kobe is a sg and dirk is a pf. so dosen't make sense dirk gets more rebounds and shoots better since most of the time, he's by the goal. and dirks not leading in rebounds much more than kobe, which i must say is pretty sad if he's sooooooooo good. kobe is better, no questions or doubts about that. so when u go 2 bed wit dirk tonite, tell him that.(no stats are needed to be posted since he already did i believe). if u have sum to say to that plz tell me. and yes i'm bak!!!

Nice Triple-Post... was that to represent the Big Three in Miami that Dirk beat in the Championship?

Dirk beat Kobe heads up, swept Kobe in the 2nd Round.
Dirk won an NBA championship this season.
You left off 3 PT% and FT%, which Dirk beat Kobe in.

You make a false argument about Dirk shooting better than Kobe because he is closer to the goal. He shoots the higher % because he is the better Shooter (hence the better FG, 3PT and FT percentages).

Rebounds, Percentage and Blocks though (not counting the 3's and the Free's, since you seem to think they don't matter) versus Points, Assists and Steals. That's 3-3, right? Pretty balanced comparison. Except for the 4 points above this.

Two or Three Seasons ago, Kobe was better than Dirk. Last season, Kobe had an off year... off enough for Dirk to have had a better Season.

Last season, Dirk wasn't just better than Kobe... the Sweep and the Ring say he OWNED Kobe.

Biggest telling stat for Kobe... 0-4 in 2nd Round. That is NOT what the 'best player' in the NBA does.

From an overall skill standpoint I think this is where my list would be today:
1. Dwyane Wade - Can literally do it all, defense, speed, decent shot, amazing penetration
2. Kevin Durant - pure shooter, can light it up, above average defender, great length
3. LeBron James - Good defense, good vision, good shooting, excellent finisher
4. Dirk Nowitzki - Great shooting, above average rebounder, decent defense
5. Kobe Bryant - Great at creating own shot, solid defense, ability to drive not where it used to be
6. Dwight Howard - phenomenal on the boards and defensively, getting better offensively and nearly impossible to stop finishing
7. Chris Paul - superb speed, vision, and finishing, good shooter, great defense
8. Derrick Rose - amazing at getting to the hoop and creating own shot, solid vision and passing skills, great defense
9. Deron Williams - above average shooter, good penetrator and good passer, good defense
10. Amare Staudemire - has a nice offensive skillset, has ability to rebound well, solid defensively, freakish athlete

One of the better lists put together IMO. Amare is NOT a good defender even though he gets a couple blocked shots and offensively he needs to be better with his back to the basket. He is a good player but not number 10 IMO. I would probably put Westbrook at 10 over Amare. Westbrook is a great defender and actually had a better PER than DRose last season. Jump shot needs work and needs to make better decisions sometimes, but he is a bigtime force on offense nonetheless. I may shuffle a bit in there, but you pretty much have about who I would have for the most part. If you have any bias towards a team or player, you really can't tell...and that to me is something most people on this thread can't say. Solid.

hmm... if you moved Lebron James down to #6 & expanded your list to 11 -- putting Kobe there -- we'd have 2 in common.

my list was for the 2010-2011 season though. need to update it soon. (a couple of my picks have gotten too talented for the NBA & have taken a step up in competition. going to scout new replacements by listening to games on radio.)

I'd agree with you about moving Westbrook for Amare. I was having a hard time figuring out who I would put at 10. I gave Amare the nod because he's more "proven" but Westbrook is for sure pushing him, like you said the only thing about Westbrook is sometimes he makes too selfish of a play and it leads to some bad decisions. Living in Dallas my whole life, I am naturally a fan of the Mavericks, but I am a bigger fan of the game of basketball so that's where I don't have a bias in these rankings.

Even jordan with all the talent a player could wish 4, couldn't win one without a team. don't say championships cuz, dirk didn't win the mavericks did, same wit kobe last 2 years, lakerz won not kobe. i'm tlkn bout skills, experience, clutch, and that killer instinct which kobe has all and dirk has 2. stop arguing it's pointless you can't prove 2 me or n e one kobe isn't better than dirk!!!! keep tryn

HAHA the heat win... nice joke in fact it was so funny ill even give you a +1. The heat arent going to win. Especially if lebron plays like he did in those playoff games last year. D. Wade might led them pretty far but lebron chokes and bosh's stats are WAAAAY down. Good Luck though heat, you never know.
