If we are just considering 2011, then Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose were even better than Kobe for the season. Durant scored more efficiently and did it with russell westbrook hogging the ball. Rose led the bulls to the top seed in the east. Both players played on teams with less talent than the Lakers and both teams made it farther in the playoffs than the lakers. Even Lebron put up much better season and playoff stats. I would take 26.7 pts (51.0Fg%) 7.5 rebs and 7 ast over kobe's 25.3 pts (45.1 Fg%) 5.1 rebs and 4.7 ast. Once again Lebron made it further in the playoffs and he put up those stats with Dwade and Chris Bosh taking a bunch of shots as well.

Regardless of stats, Kobe should have been playing better defense in the playoffs. He let Jason Terry hit 9-10 threes in game 4. Kobe allowed Jason to shoot 58.7 Fg% and 68.4 3Fg% for 19.8 pts. That's right he couldn't even stop Jason Terry. He was so out of it that even a 38 year old Jason kidd was blocking him.

On another note 24CMAN, declaring that stats aren't everything and then defending kobe by with 35.4 ppg only shows that stats are all you are looking at. In addition 35.4ppg is not the third highest scoring average. Wilt had 37.6,38.4, 50.4, 44.8, 36.9 which already knocks that off. If going by how many players averaged more than 35.4, then MJ23 (37.1), Elgin Baylor (38.3), Rick Barry (35.6) would knock him down to fifth. Wilt, Elgin, MJ23, Rick Barry, Kobe.

Don't take dis da wrong way but, u r...........gay. git of of dirk's nuts and wake up son!!! Yeah dirk won the championship, yeah he scored more than kobe, yes he swept da lakerz. But i'm not talking now man, i'm talking overall. dirk is in no way better than kobe bryant. there is nothing kobe can't do. he'll defend the best player on the team, and dirk sits back and look. kobe is more clutch than anyone ever except of curse mj. yeah dirk got him a shot, exellent shot, almost unguardable. but there are 2 reasons dirk will never be better than kobe..................
1. he can't defend. Y isn't dirk covering amare, bosh, howard, and any other bigman? He has no defense!! yeah he is a pf and not as physical as other forwards, but he can't even cover bosh, the drake of the nba, and when he tries he gets did. he even let serge ibaka hit that midrange jumper the whole oklahoma series. Shownuf don't put him on blake griffin. Kobe can defend and pg,sg, and sf even some pf's in the nba. he doesn't have 2 becuz of Meta World Peace, but if he must he can.
2.he dosen't have the killer instinct that great players have. one thing that seperates a good player from a great player is the killer instinct. kobe has it, micheal had it, d wade has it. dirk dosen't, lebron dosen't. dirk just now started 2 hit shots becuz after all his career he figures out how to shoot over an opponet easily. nobody was saying dirk's name until this playoffs when they beat the lakers(and he only did well becuz of gasol's horrible outing on which i'm still ashamed). but kobe has it, i'll pick him 2 take my last shot over anybody.
Dirk is good, but not great. kobe is. so all u dirkers git off his nuts, and wake up and stop saying ignorent things on this thing. dirk is not better than kobe bryant. never has never will. dirk's not even better than amare stoudimire so chew on dat, and not on dirk,
