Absolutely. Scottie Pippen was named one of the top 50 players of all time, yet he only finished in the top 5 of MVP voting twice in his career.

Rightly so, he wasn't a top 5 player even during his prime when Jordan retired for 2 seasons, in which case he finished 4th/9th PER/win shares in 93-94 and 7th/7th in 94-95.

Pippen, like the MVP voting in this game, was overrated being a 2nd best player on a top team.

edit - overrated is maybe a little harsh, since the MVP voting you noted was pretty fair

D2 Finals

II.1

#1 Reston Thumpers vs #1 Rocket Science

Rocket Science went 20-2 this season and has HCA in the finals. Both teams PONed their semifinal. Reston (ardain) put up better defensive ratings and solid offensive ratings, and has a 296k C in Mark Lamov. Rocket Science has a 261k C in Marcus Maentalo, so this will be a battle of monsters inside.

II.2

#1 Hoofhearted Icemelted vs #1 Ambitious and Misunderstood

HI and manager Delicious have HCA in this one, going 18-4 regular season. The manager of A&M is a friend of mine from college, and the owner of US NT guard Richard Ugona, so obviously I am rooting for him to join us in the NBBA, but HI will be tough to beat on the road. Hard to say looking at the ratings of both teams who will win this one, but I better prepare for some trash talk from czobo next season if A&B wins.

II.3

#1 EDH Wolves vs #1 Contortionists

I used to play against EDH a lot, he's got a solid LI team and will have HCA in these finals. Cws has been a good manager in II.3 for a long time and has earned this chance. Jelme is the manager of the Contortionists, this time around in D2, Jelme quickly has put himself in position to promote with a great outside offense as well as Brazilian U21 Center Felix Capoeira.

II.4

#1 Walker Wiggles vs #2 Technical Fouls

WW has HCA in this one, leading the league with a 19-3 record. Managed by Ortho Slice, WW looks like a deep team with great ratings. The Technical Fouls and manager lathrop suffered last second heartbreak when Rambo beat them in the closing moments of Game 3 of the II.4 finals last season. Lathrop has 3 solid 90k big guys, and some good guards to feed them inside.

Being in the same division as a college buddy is the worst...

Especially if one does significantly better and goes 2-0 against the other one...

Hypothetically of course.

If I promote, my single goal for next season will be to beat Rambo two times and injure at least three of his players.
