Not burnt! Needed a slow burn.

1) AZ Desert Storm
The demoter has just purchased another player to bolster the backcourt. Peron and the bigs are delighted to see Jason pushing for a promotion. While their defense has been average, their offense has been spectacular, running opposing teams out of the gym. With the Big 8 games approaching, we'll see if other contenders have something to say about their undefeated record

2) Asingratitos BC
Another undefeated squad, they've been doing it despite their unorthodox management style. Rent-A-Player has been working marvelously for them, and it seems now that they're winning they will continue to rent and win! Gameshape will start to become a challenge though, we'll see what their plans are coming up

3) Gunslingers
Now here's a solid defensive team here! Gunslingers run the league's best defense, holding opposing teams to 30% shooting on average, and their shooting has been decent enough to almost average 100PPG. His balanced approach and the growth of his Italian center will continued to be monitored as I believe his defense will continue to improve

4) Las Vegas SIlver Stars
Pakis and friends continue to lead the Stars to victory, and their team produces good shooting stats to compete with the best of the best. However their defense does have a few cracks and might need some addressing before the playoffs. They're just at the right place they want to be though, as being a playoff contender you'll always be right there to make the splash deal needed. Oh yeah, also might wanna improve on 58% FT Shooting too. Hack a Star time?

5) Mountain Eagles
Think of what I said for the Stars, just the opposite. Despite losing 2 critical starters the Eagles have leaned on their defense and supreme shot blocking to have the league's 2nd best defense. But with only Marino and Lince dropping 20+ a game, their offense feels very vanilla. Might need to find another powerful offensive weapon to slide in and take the load of the bunch. Could definitely have used Noe's 18 and 10 a night right now

6) Pittsburgh Peacocks
The vaunted big man duo has been performing well in Pittsburgh, leading them to a superb RPG and quality looks from the field. The cup games will continue to challenge the Peacocks but they got the horses to hang. In a competitive Big 8 GS should be treated like gold. Stay tuned!

7) AMC Spirits
Their balanced roster has led to a quality defensive approach, holding teams down to a 36% FG against in each contest. I'll say I've been surprised with the performance of AMC this season. Quality PD and team management are the calling card for AMC, however with a tougher schedule coming up we'll see if they can maintain their competitive edge.

8) Janitor Crew
A bit surprised for the low record here from Antwon. Now I'm aware he's sold off a few people, as he seems to be trading out certain American parts for others. The constant has remained the same though with Jia and the younglings continuing to get better. We'll see if when his new guys get into form if the Crew will take it up another notch

9) Globo Gym
The Thong, the Fart, and trainees? Their offense and defense leave things to be desired but the fact of the matter is Nikebones has been playing above his belt and has scratched his way to a 2-2 record, looking towards a playoff berth. A similar build to the Janitors, his 3 guards seem to all be having a U21 campaign, which means they should be of D3 quality by the end of the season. We'll see if they can get their D up as the season goes on.

10) Social Security Kings
Hoskins is wondering where his help is. He does have some rebounding prowess next to him, but it seems like his team is performing above expectations at 2-2. Hoskins stats haven't been stellar themselves, but his on the court play has demanded more from his teammates. We'll see if he has moves up his sleeve, but he's still got a ton of time and bottom feeders at the bottom so he'll be safe for the time being.

11) Bonham Bricklayers
This is a surprsing spot for coachehicks. Berman and Espinar are the big boys down low but they haven't been getting quality support from the backcourt lately. Looking at the numbers it doesn't seem they should be 1-3, but unfortunately this is where they stand. We'll see if hicks has a plan to elevate his guard play, as Berman and Espinar also gotta skill up in order for Bonham to get back in the playoff picture

12) King Drive Ballers
Another disappoint start to the season for this team as well. You could easily look at the stats and see that their defense has definitely let them down this season, with 45% FG against. 46% of teams hitting the three ball against them too. No blocking whatsoever so no one to challenge shots. Brian has a lot of work to do but he's a veteran compared to all of us. He will figure it out....right???

13) 2 left feet
Another poor defensive team, I look at left feet and he's gonna need to get a right foot in order to get back in the fold. He has a ton of betas, old players. I'd highly consider he start investing the draft a bit in order to get talent infusion on the roster, as He might want to start looking into developing more players for his next chapter.

14) BFT Ever
Uh, what is He doing? He is the only one showing up to games, as he's one of the league leaders amongst players in PPG. He can't do it alone though, as the defense is BBQ chicken everywhere and their lack of offense outside of He is alarming. Not to mention He can't grab all the rebounds either, as BFT is allowing over 60 RPG against. Holes are there, but once BFT gets He some help He will be back on track.

15) Mississippi Cobras
Shout out to this guy! MSC has been BB Mailing me lately, tryna get accustomed to the game. He has a long way to go but at least he is asking for help and wanting to seek advice. He should check out this forum too, we got a ton of vets in here willing to help out! He did trade out a guard for a cheaper guy, and he has an arena to start building up on. My message to you is that BB is a marathon, not a race, and to be patient.

16) Maryland Champions
AFK. Prepare to be botified

Great write up and rankings :-) although, I would like to issue a formal protest of the number two ranked team in your power rankings!

Nothing about that lame strategy that falls under the category of a simulation... Asshatsniffalaficus should always have a 5+ penalty to wherever you think he should be ranked :-) So with all things being equal you would have ranked him number two like you did, that would mean he'd be ranked number seven :-)

Looking forward to seeing Mr weak sauce fade as the season goes along!

that was some hot sauce brotha! ill just say im hoping you dont trigger him to maintain that payroll cause im still feeling that season opener home TV loss to a 900k+ payroll

to the unconventional approach, ill continue my almost 70 season complaints about that poorly structured economy and the loopholes and bandaids it creates (its tempting, almost did the same to compete in that first game, but also worried about getting stuck with some NT player that cant be fired)

Great stuff man, much appreciated!

Another disappoint start to the season for this team as well.

Thats pretty much our thing, thought I might end up blowing it up and selling off trainees for $ down the stretch. Jason made a good point, a 11k arena not exactly getting it done even at III level.

I am struggling to understand where the aggressive tone is coming from, but anyhow. Forum rules are clear.

You are obviously trying to say that it feels unrealistic to be able to buy players and not pay for their weekly salaries. I agree and, as I said last season in this forum, I absolutely believe that the rules should change such that when one buys a player, you have to pay at least one week of their salary. Currently, this is implemented only for NT players.

It is an interesting discussion why this has not been implemented in the 18 real-life years of this game. I have not asked any BB, but my assumption is that either they believe:
(1) this strategy is not beneficial, or
(2) even if it was temporarily beneficial, the market value of the players would adjust accordingly without the need for their regulation, at which point the strategy would stop being sensible

From my perspective, in am not convinced yet about (1), although I could certainly list a few negatives:
- almost impossible to do a good playoff run in div 3 and higher,
- requires very active play, at which point other strategies might make more sense,
- minimal chances on Tuesdays vs teams with a strong roster and good GS,
- minimal chances against div I and II level teams (which might partially explain why BBs haven't bothered),
- a good fraction of the economic gains are wasted if you end up in positions 5-7 and you are paired against a strong team.

And (2) is not happening, but that's not exactly my fault - in fact I am clearly pushing these prices higher. There are only a few dozen relevant TL players each week and only a handful of teams pursuing them (I am seeing the same 5-10 teams bidding against me every week).

What is interesting though about your post is that you seem to have the opinion that it is the users' responsibility to keep the game as realistic as possible with their every action, instead merely playing the game under the current setup and (optionally) requesting from BBs to make improvements. The whole game objective is basically a balance of game performance + team growth vs expenses, but actually trying to maximize that ratio is somehow wrong?

Not really sure why are you failing to understand the tone when you stated "You are obviously trying to say that it feels unrealistic". Seems that you understand where I was coming from perfectly well.

So, since you made a case...I'll give my 2 cents :-) I have thought your strategy is lame since I learned about you doing it last season before I was in this league. I don't like it. I personally believe it's unrealistic, as previously stated, it throws off the Stats, season records, and team ratings. I don't think it's in line with the spirit of a Basketball Simulation Game.

Aside from snide comments to a couple of my BB friends about your strategy, I haven't said anything publicly, because it is what it is. However, after Tough's awesome write up and rankings...I blurted out to myself "How can this "team" be ranked #2, when they aren't a team, but a rotating cycle of players each week". When that thought came to mind, I couldn't help but make a comment, more to be funny than anything else.

You are correct about the rules. And please note, I never said you are cheating, or breaking the rules. I just think it's a weak strategy, and I don't like it. You are free to run your team however you see fit as long as it's with the rules. Just like its your prerogative to run your team how you want, it's mine to point out the absurdity of it. I think its interesting you go against the grain like you do, and then get a little upset and defensive when called out on it. You do you :-) It's okay!

That said, another reason I don't like it, is because in truth, there are some ways you are being rewarded for this strategy. And sometimes your rewards are at the expense of others. Like it was previously said, someone had the bad luck of not only facing you in week 1, but it was also a TV game...So, your strategy left a negative impact on another team that goes beyond that one game. Because of my dislike for your strategy, I am disappointed to see you get rewarded for it. But that's just me, and my opinion :-)

Fortunately, few are doing what you do...if it were more prevalent, I would lose interest in this game fast. And like was previously said as well, BB has a history of the band aid approach to "Fixing" things, rather than working on the foundation of the problems. One of the easy solutions, like you said, charge the salary for a week when firing a guy...kind of like they do with staff. However, to me, that doesn't address the real issues of this game, and just creates other problems. It's already challenging enough to manage your players, arena, staff etc. with all of the restrictions, and then add in minute management, it's another layer of difficulty. However, one thing most of us do to survive all of that, is to buy scrimmage scrubs to balance out minutes, and still get a win over bot teams. However, if what you are doing causes BB to charge one weeks salary for any purchased player...teams are going to have to choose between staying in the tournament, or blowing up game shape etc.

Nothing against you personally :-) I am just not a fan of your strategy...and the #2 ranking put the whole issue on the Tee for me to speak out against it Real life sports is full of drama...Looks we both did our job to make this feel more realistic...you with your lame strategy, and me with my criticism of it

Good luck the rest of the way!
