You are right, there are many great European and even South American basketball players that are catching up.
I'd say the U.S top 12 would win about 70-75% of the time.

Check the Suggestions they are important

Just my 2 cents..... USA had a very bad cancer (streetball) growing from within that no one really truly understood. This has given other parts of the world to catch up knowledge wise. However, our talent pool is flowing over our cups. It other parts of the world players go pro as early as 14 yr old. in the US you can't turn pro until you are 1 yr out of high school. Keywords are out of high school. I believe the if I went throughout the USA and just picked 12 players that never make it to school and had the chance to showcase they're skills on a play level. We would still have a 60 to 40 percent chance to win if giving enough time to train and learn a system. I seen a lot of players that had the total package and due to some issues never got his chance to shine. Now saying that, with all these Americans going overs seas playing and having babies. The talent level will catch up in the next 20 or so years. EX: 1 of my best friends played in Iceland and had a son which is 10 right now and loves basketball.

This conversation has move completely away from my original question. Not even GM-Chihorn could tie it back together.

Uh.. getting back on topic... I too agree that the game engine somewhat penalizes high stamina players by having them play too many minutes, especially when decent backups are available and any good coach would also take weekly game shape into strategic consideration. Unfortunately, I think a post in the suggestions forum is our only recourse at the moment.

Not that great? We are talking Olympic team right not that team lead by KD. I would say that the Olympic team has atleast the best player in the world at each position except PF. Including the top 2 SG and SF. No other team in the world has close to the caliber of talent. And teams like Argentina and Spain those dudes play every year. The u.s. team gets together for a summer once every four years and dominates for the most part. Don't get fooled by that team of Rajon Rondo, KD, and that team of all NBA 8th team we put out there for FIBA.

I think you are right if we are in 1991 and we are talking about the original (and only) Dream Team.

I guess you didn't watch the las tournament in Turkey, where Usa had to play 150% just to win, and not by 50 points.

Kobe Bryant grew in Italy, Mike Brown spent a lot of time expanding his tactics in Europe, Poppovich came to Argentina to do the same... Any opinion is valid, you made your point. But I guess these guys know a litlle something about basket ;)

Now, comparing international players with kids, come on!! You can do better.

And google the last time USA won a tournament with "absolute domination", with an average of 30 points in win and lower the ego.

USA is the best team, but doesn't prove it as it should. And the world has improved, and made that difference much smaller than 2 decades ago.

in teh example of Russia above, how many of those Russians really made an impact in the US leagues? I know some made impacts in Europe leagues. Lithuanians are amazing basketball players. But they aren't Michael. They aren't Kobe Bryant. They aren't Lebron, Blake Griffin, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, Chris Bosh, Shaq type players.

overall i agree with you but i like to make a point for the lithuanian school, who maybe have no Kobe, michael but an Sabonis and some pretty good Ballers. And hey lithuania is smaller then NewYork and haven't even 50% of the population NewYork have.(Lithuania 3 Million citizen)

Another thing is that beeing a good FIba and NBA have some difference in the rules, which makes it not so easy to convert the game from one game to the other. I think with same rules we would have more elite players(or player in the elite league) from around the world butalso a more dominant US Nationalteam. Cause they or Lithuania have the best Program, but the USA have the much bigger Talentpool. Maybe some ex. Jugoslawien program are worth are mention over here, but i think they are worse then those two nations.

And who is this Norwitski? ;)
