Cup is over. I didn't have an incredibly difficult path in the cup to get this far as far as who I drew on a week to week basis. I will say it is extremely difficult to try to win your league in D3 and get this far in the cup. I didn't float around the 5th seed all year and nuke teams in the cup when needed. I had to sacrifice a couple league games and some game shape at times. Its hard and I don't recommend it.

My roster isn't that ridiculous. I am running in the red week to week but not by much. While I was winning cup games I was making money. Arena is incredibly important for you aspiring D3 managers. Build it while you are in D4 or D5 where your games are not as difficult on a week to week basis.

Whats wrong with that strategy? If you can't compete in a given season what is the point in spending money on a roster that isn't competitive?

Personally I have no problem with whats going on. Of course, Im doing the same thing running at -150k a week with a 450k roster, and it is my last ditch effort to make it to D.II as well. The difference though is that there really are teams out there that have other goals. Such as mine, if i dont make it this season then I go into a very long rebuilding mode with getting 3 great 18yos and relegating down to D.IV. It happens in the NBA more than you think. Take the Atlanta Hawks for instance. They ran with quite a high salary roster for three seasons, including making Joe Johnson the highest paid player in the league. However, they just decided to destroy it and rebuild. It happens. Crap happens that destroys the chances of some teams winning a championship. All that means is you have to wait your turn and try to build your team so that when the time does come, you wont lose the opportunity.

It would be like the Nets spending Millions on lux tax for 1 season while they try to win a title, and if they don't achieve that then the owner just can's the entire organization.

That happens all the time across all sports leagues.

Perhaps make a rule that you need to have a player in your team x amount of weeks before he can be sold

That's already a rule.

(or drop that %age of the sale down to like 40% for 1 week, 50% for 2 weeks, 55% for 3 weeks 60% for 4 weeks)

That's also already a rule.

This is exactly what my team is going through, I'd prefer it if we met in D2 and not in D4 again haha.

BB is a marathon and a large chunk of that is luck, I dislike certain aspects of this but they are necessary. If you land in a league that happens to have a last ditch monster grabbing playoff team the very season you fielded the best team possible then you are most likely screwed for a few seasons. Guess it's just a part of the game, and after all is said and done your team will most likely do better than the one that adds 500k in salary the last few weeks, especially if through some miracle they fail in the playoffs.
