I looked a little deeper... I think we'd have to get about 300 likes to make it to any sort of relevant spot on the /gaming page and a hundred or so for the /sports page.

They also offer sponsered posts. If we were to fork over $100 we could fetch ~66,000 impressions on those subreddits. Not sure what an "impression" is. Probably just one time where the add is on their screen?

From their rules on self promotion:

You should not vote up only things from your domain or project, or have any other employees or fans do the same. Every redditor should evaluate and vote on each submission or comment based on the value when they read it. Only submitting on, or voting on, one particular person, domain, or brand's content will get an account banned from reddit - it's called vote cheating and manipulation.

You should not ask for votes on reddit, even on your twitter or blog or forum - it will get your account banned, and in extreme cases can get your domain banned.


So I guess the blurb on everybody's page asking for votes would be in violation of that rule. That being said I would be willing to make a post on our forums linking to a reddit post and encouraging everybody to look at it and use their own judgement as to whether or not they would like a BuzzerBeater piece on the "hot" section of the reddit sports page. However much publication BB wants to give that would be up to you.

I would agree with this, you can definitely promote that the subreddit exists, you just can't be like "GO UPVOTE THIS ONE SPECIFIC POST"

I could make a post, but I think I'm not familiar enough with reddit and I also don't have a standing account with them. One of the things I read while going over their self promotion rules is that they frown upon users creating an account solely for the purpose of promoting something. They would rather have a reddit user that is a part of the community share something they care about.

I know adchester is a pretty seasoned reddit user. Do you think you'd be down to do the actual posting adchester? We could all draft something together. We have the banners that Marin posted here (278518.5)

I have an account. I'm not really on those forums, but I have no problem making it. However I don't know how good my post would be. If someone wants to help me write it im down... Collectively write a BB post

I would wait until after the merge decision is made. We can't really advertise a product that could be drastically different in a few months time.

Also when we do advertise I would include an offer like 3 months of supporter for free when you sign up.

Advertisement
