Thanks. I definitely wasn't happy to see that my matchup this week was against Bullish, and was just lucky to have it on my home court so I could have a fighting chance.

To all: do you think PR managers are good investments ??

I just fired mine because I needed to reduce my over-extension tax. So far, my attendance is unchanged & my merch sales are up. Granted, my payroll is up too ... so, my merch sales as a % of payroll are down. Still, I'm left wondering whether PR guys are worth anything ...

For many seasons, I rolled along w/ a lvl 1 PR guy without any trouble. It was only when I advanced to Div II that it seemed proper to hire a competent PR guy. I never noticed any results (positive net cashflow), but I mindlessly upgraded to an advanced when I hit the NBBA. I reckon some of you have even hire level PR guys ... I ask again, are they worth it ??

It seems to me, that a team can fare quite well w/ a half-way decent Doctor and no other staff

PR managers are a decent investment when you have a mediocre or worse team. I carried a level 5 up until earlier this season and it definitely took a bite out of the attendance hit when I had a home game after a loss. As long as you can get a good one at a decent salary that doesn't cost so much to acquire that it outstrips any attendance savings, it can be worthwhile.

my PR guy is competent, and my recent attendance has been much better than i would have expected, but my merchandise is still rock bottom -- even after having two starting players on the All-Star team.

i've never felt they added much value, aside from assisting on home or away games, depending on the specialty.

i saw that Tangosz had purchased a player for half a million, went to see what the bad news was, and was pleasantly surprised to see it was an 18 year old.

then i looked over the conference page and realized it looks like relegation and 8th place for the Great 8 could well be settled: 10 Inch, Cassville, and Njord have combined won only one of their last 24 games. of course, players can still be purchased, but for the recent past the trendline looks like a flatline.

and i was happy to see Saul is still signing in . . .

i just bought a player from the US and my merchandise went up 20%.

or maybe the observation should be:

i just bought a player whose salary is over $200,000 a week and my merchandise went up 20%.

i'll never figure this game out.

I had a 35k/week World renowned PR guy at one point. I felt like he was neither bringing in more money than he cost, nor costing more more than he brought in, as compared to other PR guys. If I recall correctly, however, I was doing well in those seasons.

What level of doctors do people typically run with up here. I fear mine is way to low, but it seems like a player always gets injured right after you change doctors, so I am afraid to do so.

I believe the observation should be those combined. A USA player costing $200,000 a week. Though I'm not sure how much a 20% increase for you I'm going to guess $12k-14k a week? USA players have quite a nice boost to them, once they are all added up. Thanks to my Americans, I have consistently had double the amount of the average league merchandise

Well, I think the two NT players account for almost all of your merch boost. I'm also at around double the league average merch with my three NT guys. I've had teams that were all American players before and I never had much more than the league average merch, so I'm not convinced just having American guys is enough.

Anyway, Hassan's merch boost from buying Purdy is interesting. I've put Purdy on the NT roster in scrimmages, so maybe he gets a 1 week boost for buying a NT guy.
