I think I'm just only going to schedule scrimmages against teams that are much better than me. That seems to be the only solution. ;-)

that this is also applicable to non-competitive matches, which doesn't make any sense.

yes, the way to 'manage' time in a non-competitive matches is to set you game with only 5 players in the lineup. all are assured of getting 48 minutes, unless they foul out.

yes, this scenario is VERY realistic....guess the BB want us to manage our time this way. HA

let me destroy this nice thoughtbaloon: if you put 5 players on the roster for a game, even if they do not get fouled out, or injured, they get tired, and then the coach brings in a lucky fan, and you loose trainingminutes, so your guys do not get 48 minutes....

Yup. What he should hav said was "set your game with only 5 players in the lineup and have them all have at least inept stamina".

[Potential has nothing to do with current ability or how the player performs. In BB, it is only relevant to training.

Perhaps I'm not making myself clear, because in other posts it seems you agree with me in point, but got caught up with the BB term 'role player'. I use that term because it has a real meaning and I hope BB would use it in the same vein.

The idea of a role player is nothing new in basketball or any other sport which permits substitutions when confronted with specific situations: tough defense, an outside threat, rebounding, while knowing full well that they will be losing out in (many) other areas due to the one dimensional nature of the player. This is a 'role player' as opposed to a starter. I reference the that since BB uses the term they must understand the nature. A bench is either considered to be deep, which means it have many talented players who could either be starting on other teams or at least 'good enough' to fill all the needs of a position, OR a team's bench may have role players. Those who come in for the above reasons to a specific job -- including burn minutes are role players. LIKE in BB's training we don't expect role players toe ver be (consistent) starters, but they can fill the need at the time reasonably well.

NO COACH would play these types of players for an extended time (barring injuries) if the coach wanted to keep his job. The idea that a poor bench needlessly plays so much is poorly conceived, and that is what I mean. BB's intent for training becomes secondary to the notion of a coach breaking fundamental ideas of who-to-play-and-when for the sake of... I'm not sure what.

I guess there were no fans in the stands to sub his tired players???
(also, I have played many Scrimmages with 6 players and I KNOW that there stamina was average)
or your hypothesis does not apply??
even if you hypothesis is correct, given that we have little control over minute distribution, would it not be crappy if they were to take this one thing we CAN control away from us!!!

I didn't say it will never happen. Ofcourse the lucky managers will get each player 48 minutes this way.

The theory I reacted on though stated that it was guaranteed that all 5 players would get 48 minutes, and that is simply not true.

They should at least fix THAT. Lucky fan should only play in case of foulout or inury.
