Yep! This is one of the worst aspects of BB. Plus the fact that one is rarely rewarded for creating—and maintaining—a strong successful franchise. Guess there is little we can do except keep harping on it...

Agreed, it's not like your team just backed into the playoff's by chance after a crappy season. For the best team in the league - based simply on your record - there is no realistic reason that you do not sell out, or reach the attendance capacity of your arena for ticket prices.

the worst part of this game is there is no MAX SALARY CAP
seems like the trend is to tank and just out spend everyone to win at this level
not so dependent on player development or tactic
what a boring sequence one has to endure zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I don’t really think tanking and out-spending everyone has been an issue in DII.4 (Jason is the only one to do it, as far as I can remember).   (13442244).

I don't think this is a fair characterization of what I did at all. I had a $513K payroll, plus Bland. Some would argue that Bland did not provide near the value to match his cost. Shoemaker helped me win the DIV Championship in Season 15 and Danila, Zvonc, and Bisi were all on my Season 16 team that won the DIII championship. That means half of my D2 championship team I had since Season 16 or longer.

Zvonc, Bisi, Danila, and Onkol (who was on those two championship teams as well) were all players I bought as 18 year olds and trained them from the ground up. Shoemaker had a small head start on training, but I did 80% of his development as well.

I only train guards, so I have no choice but to buy bigs to complete the team. If my team is not an example of winning by player development, and matching players to fit the tactic, I don't know what is.

Speaking of player development, Sampaio is for sale, in case anyone has a couple million to blow:  (13442244).

With the new changes to shot blocking, he isn't as valuable so I am going to pass. Thanks for the heads up though...

tanking and outspending is tough because you have to figure out a way to stay in the league while tanking. There was a very odd situation one season where more than one team was quitting, so Jason could hold significantly less salary during the season while training the same players (who also happened to be "finishing up" at the exact moment). Saving money that season allowed him to afford a national team center, which he bought and owned all season long. I consider that situation different, his team, for all purposes was a self trained team and he loaded up on talent from day 1.

What I don't like is teams that aim for 3rd-4th sitting on cash then loading up for a play off run. New York Jests did this in season 16, spent almost 6 million the final transfer week, sat in 3rd place and was able to win the final series to promote. How do I remember that? I lost that finals series, losing game 3 at home by one point. I had the ball with a tie score with 24 secs remaining, I take a shot with 11 secs remaining (wtf?) get fouled and hit both FTs to be up 2 at home with 11 seconds on the clock. So what happens, they go for an inside shot, score, and I foul them with 2 secs remaining. Really? Why hack at someone at that point in the game. They hit the FT and advance. Closest I have come to getting out of here. This was also at a time where the other half of the league was significantly worse, so the few teams worthy of d2 and trying could sit with weaker teams knowing full well they wouldn't demote and could save money and train more efficiently making the playoffs the "real season" if they wanted to make a run.

Most teams set up for a realistic chance to promote will add another player for depth last second, but this is the only instance I have seen where someone bought 3 brand new legitimate all-star/ MVP vote getting types of starters right at the deadline.
