If you win the bid, it's just simple math....You pay the bid for the player, and collect the money for the player, minus agent fees. So it does cost you some money to bid on your own player.

also just to add.... then the player is considered as a new transfer (talking about the Fan Survey) and if you try to sell him again you will only receive the 80% (or less , depends of how many players you sold).... :)
