for example my rival team has four different rival ..
and in my division there is no team with me for rival ;)

Taking a wild guess, the rival thing will have an influence on fan behaviour, like TV games.

Fans will compare the own performance with the rival's performance (benchmark) and matches against rivals will have an extra effect on the fanbase.

Just guessing.

but if your rival is the best one , and you just promoted , it is not really fair ?
How the choice of rival is made , i don t think it is random . there is so many questions about this new rule lol...

I really don't know. But in real life a rivalry can also stem from local or historic roots and does not necessarily reflect competitiveness.

(and of course I CAN be better than the best team in the division I have just been promnoted to - ok, just kidding...)

My guess is that this feature will be dynamic, while it was randomnly assigned for now.

As the season progresses, you rival might be the team thats competing with you for top league ranking, playoff seeds, or even to avoid relegation.
