Team USA had another outstanding defensive performance last Monday, cruising to a 99-68 (15932) victory against Bolivia here in Mexico City. Joe Bronson returned from illness in order to lead the team with 27 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals off the bench.

Up next for Jason and the National Team, #6 Uruguay. Last season, it took a Martin Medrano buzzerbeater, in overtime, to defeat the Uruguayans (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/15427/reportmatch.aspx?...). Now the US faces Uruguay again, in a game that will decide the winner of Group C.

To prepare for this crucial battle, Jason assembled his senior staff and outlined the implications of the game. Assistant coach brian, celebrating Irwin Velasco's most recent performance, lit up some cigars using 100 dollar bills, which seemed entirely unnecessary. Wozz and Coco spent most of the meeting arguing about who gets the nicest chair in the conference room, and SM had to leave early because Dexter Dennison was arrested for possession and someone had to bail him out.

So it looks like we are going to need you guys to weigh in on the gameplan vs Uruguay! Please join the discussion on the offsite forum: (http://s3.zetaboards.com/BuzzerBeater_USA_NT/topic/751726...) and then after you voice your opinion, join us for the game on Monday the 19th, at 9pm Eastern, 6pm Pacific!

Game Recap

Nearly 20,000 people packed into Monumental Arena in Mexico City on Monday night, anticipating another epic battle between #5 United States and #6 Uruguay. They would leave disappointed.

Earlier that day GM-Jason gave an inspirational speech to the USA players and staff, at one point stating "...you all must look within yourselves, and then do whatever it takes to win this game."

The players and staff took that statement literally. Assistant Coach Brian bribed the refs. Coco and Wozz, disguised as chauffeurs, drove half of the Uruguayan team to the wrong arena. Dexter Dennison and Ricky Logsdon drank and did some lines with Juan Bruschi (6906109) and Guillermo Magnano (9720604) the morning of the game. Jairo took some recipes from Taco Bell and poisioned Hamlet Coe (4896877).

By gametime there were only 5 Uruguayan players available. It was a rout. Joe Bronson led the team with 24 points and 6 assists, as Team USA crushed depleted Uruguay 115-69 (15935).

As winners of Group C, Team USA will face Canada, Argentina, Brasil, Venezuela, and Bolivia in Round 2 of the Americas Tournament, starting next Monday vs our neighbors to the north, Canada. Stay tuned!

As soon as I said that, the though crossed my mind that I was glad Lundy wasn't around for this game....Can you imagine what he would see if he "looked within" himself? Ewwwww, not a pretty sight!
