I was just wondering out of curiosity, how is the step up from League V to League IV?

I mean generally speaking if you move up to a higher league is it typical to turn over (more or less) your entire roster in order to remain competitive?

In my grand V adventure, I was in an all bot league. I finished 22-0. I promted to IV. I acquired two new starters (15k each), and finished the season 12-10. In other words, I did not have to turn over my entire roster to remain somewhat competitive. Now, I am attempting to promote to III and in the process I have retained only two players from my original V league roster.

However, a person in my league promoted from V (his roster has remained the same) and is currently leading the division and will likely be the team promoted into III.

It really has more to do with which Level IV league you promote into. I have seen some Level IV leagues where even the best team doesnt look that much different than the solid Level V teams...however, I was promoted into a brutal Level IV league, and its a completely different ball game. My league could give some Level III leagues a run for their money. I played a guy yesterday in which 2 of his players have a higher salary than my entire roster. The average payroll in my league is over 150K, and there are two teams with 200K)+ payroll in my league.

There are two 53K+ centers in my league, a 48K PG. Again, I have seen some Level IV leagues where the highest salary player is less than 15K.

That said, as brutal as it is, whoever survives this league will be much better equipped to compete in level III.

Good luck!!

Those are pretty high salaries for a Division IV club. I promoted after 1.5 seasons or so after having made only a couple of additions, none of which were players making more than $10K. But I haven't been competitive in Division III until this year, when I have two guards and a center making around $40 and a couple of other starters in the $20-$30K range. Realistically, I think to be successful in Division III you have to hire or develop players with core skills in the 12 and up range and decent skills everywhere else for balance. I'm now 13-0 in my league and am hoping I can keep it together long enough to have a shot at promotion, then maybe we'll see what kind of talent it takes to stay in Division II.

Yeah, something like that happened to me last season and I found myself back in D.V in a heartbeat, this season I've upgraded my roster enough that it won't matter where I am in D.IV, I'm sticking around or even promoting if I get lucky.

Hmmm thanks a lot. I'm in a D5 league right now where there's one clear-cut best team (previously a D4 team) and then two other teams (one of which is mine) that are about one notch below the league leader in terms of talent.

I'm hoping to advance this season, but it's going to be tough...
