Sorry, I might have made you misunderstand.
What I meant by “open shot” wasn’t just about three-point or perimeter shots — I was referring to open shots from all positions, including inside the paint.

You're right — open shots are closely related to team flow.

But what I was trying to talk about is the way open shots are defined.
Is it just two situations — being guarded or open — with only one level of openness?
Or are there multiple levels of openness, meaning a shot could be guarded, or have different degrees of being open?
(Actually, I don’t know which one BB uses either.)

Compared to having just one open-shot level, having multiple levels of openness would clearly make the system more detailed and closer to real-life situations
