Press Announcements

Management takes Las Vegas over Philippines

With NZ coming off back-to-back wins to start the U21 season, the manager saw the 3rd game against the Philippine's, who are ranked 8th in the world, as a good time to give the young guys a run and take a break in Vegas.
The result was an expected loss (80-128), however the starting lineup was made up of 4 players who will be key players for the NZU21 next season.
Cleo Adderton got his first game for national cap playing at PG, and while he didn't light up the score board or go on a Steve Nash type passing game, he managed to keep turn overs down and defend well. Grady Dinnigan continued to start at SG and managed to score 20pts (9-27). 19yo Bailey Fisk got his first start at the power forward spot and gained alot of experience despite going 2 of 10 from the field. Bailey should be a big part of the NZ team for a while yet so it was a good time to get him exposed to the big boys we hope to see him match up with in a few seasons. Chuck Knight continued to start at the center spot and had a hard time controlling the paint against Philly’s bigs. Daniel Williamson also got his NZ debut off the bench in an effort to get his manger more focused on his training heading into next season

The NZ manager had this to say: "We kind of knew this game was a wash so we thought it would be good to reward some managers for some solid training of these young guys. As a small nation we need to prize every decent U21 player we have, hopefully by playing these guys their managers will get a small merchandise bonus as a reward for the effort they have given me this season"

Star Players (MVP votes)

3 points: Leroy Reibel (17pts on 7/15 shooting)
2 points: Grady Dinnigan (20pts)
1 point : Vincent Arkless (10pts in 9 minutes)
