A +20 win against Nigeria ended a very successful 1st Round for Misr's squad under the direction of Coach Fairness. The expectations for the 2nd Round are high, everyone wants to see performances like this again. Is the team and the staff good enough to keep the perfect record? Coach Fairness tells us:
_
Press: Hi Fairness! How are you?
FN: I'm quite fine, thanks!
Press: Good to hear. The expectations are high after this impressive 1st Round, does Team Misr feel any pressure?
FN: I heard some statements, that meant that this is the best team that ever played for Egypt. I naturally like it, but I think that's no pressure at all. Everyone knows what we can do on the court, but we're not unbeatable. I think my team and my staff knows that we have to stay calm and collected, we've got some difficult games ahead.
Press: Well, do you think you can keep the perfect record?
FN: Sure we can, nothing is impossible. But that's not our goal, we just want to finish this round as 1st and go into the playoffs with a good feeling.
Press: You've clearly played the best defense so far in this tournament, how much means that to you?
FN: I think we haven't just got the best in this tournament, but one of the best on this earth. Defense is the most important thing in the game of basketball, and I'm sure that everyone in our team knows that.
Press: What do you think of your next opponent, Tounes?
FN: They've got 2-3 strong inside defenders, some with good OD too. They play a very outside based offense with one of the best PGs on the earth, but have some deficits in rebounding that we have too use.
Press: What is your plan for this 2nd Round?
FN: My "plan"?! I think our plan is to win games.
Press: Can you explain the recent development of your NT?
FN: We've got about 8-10 guys that get trained nearly every week. The most remarkable guys are Arabi, Hamdan, Naser Ismail, Ibrahim and Ibn-Osman. It's a pity that our 24-year-old Center prospect Saigh didn't get one Up this season, although he got 48+ minutes of 1 Pos. training every week...
Press: Everyone knows that you're a Coach that always keeps an eye on the future, what we see in your recent project with the 18 and 19 year-old recruits too. Can you give us a little impression of the next season?
FN: We've got 3 guys in the U21 that have the chance to make the next step next season and also some 22-24 year olds. We'll see how they improve in those 7 weeks left.
Press: Ok, thanks for the interview and good luck in the next games!
FN: Thank you!
