Thanks, and thank you for your stats as well (once again). It's very nice people are willing to put in some effort for this league, it also inspires me to do more. Like you guys have noticed, there aren't any FG stats currently - I'm trying to add some of them too at some point, but unfortunately they are the ones that take most work as I haven't found an easy workaround to transfer and count them even semi-automatically.
And adding only pts scored and pts allowed categories do not alone reveal the quality of defense, as tempo varies per team, and also other things (such as rebounding-%, amount of turnovers and blocks - own and forced) affect those stats too... so FG% and Defensive FG% would better reflect team scoring and defensive ability.

I remember you mentioned you're into stats, and I'm definitely like that too.
I've currently written 13 more categories on a note, of which I try to select and add some extra stats at a later date. I wish all of them would be available automatically, but for me stats are so important that I'm occasionally willing to take the extra mile for them.
As a tasting, some of the extra stats (out of those 13 categories) I've been considering including some of these:
- Assist/turnover ratio,
- some 'margin stats' (for instance, own rebounds-opponent's rebounds; these can however be already calculated by anyone, based on stats I provided earlier),
- FTA/FGA,
- STL+BL/TO,
- STL/TO,
- Rebounding %,
- % of 3P attempts of all FG attempts,
- FG ATT/match (own+opponent; pace of match revealed), etc...

I don't think I'll be realistically able to add all above mentioned (or at least all those 13) , but as these are something that I'd love to see in BB or in buzzer-manager (and they're nowhere to be found), it would be very cool to have them available on HGL. It's truly unfortunate they don't just jump in to the table, and it's not a job to overtake when you're for instance tired... last thing I want to do is provide completely inaccurate statistics.
But I also would like to hear from other managers how important/interesting they find stats?

Thank you to both you and Hadar for the additional stats. I knew this season was going to be a very difficult, but I'm surprised at how disappointing it is thus far. The HGL is very competitive and my starting team is so weak. I have recently mapped out the next two training seasons to get an idea of how the team might look and it is much more encouraging. I just have to suffer through the next three seasons as best I can. After that, my team should start doing well in the HGL.

I'm enjoying the stats. I have many 'scouting' stats I keep (1st and 2nd teams and their leagues) so I can fine-tune my tactics each week, and recently started one for the HGL. While I could provide some statistics here on all the off/def tactics used by teams and their success rates, I don't think everyone would appreciate that! It is also something that teams do if they so wish. Picking the tactics in a game is, when struggling like I am, the small win I get excited about even if I lose.

Here in the HGL this season, however, I almost have to just play patient each week just to minimise the differential damage!

Thanks! It is very competitive indeed, especially in the case of top teams (three highest top 8 salaries all above $520K, and 6 highest top 8 salaries over $301K). I'm glad to see you're not giving up though, and see this as a long project, which it is... It's frustrating to be weak in the beginning, but on the other hand, when you've had this kind of experience and then start to reach some success later on (and realize having done it on your own, not by buying players), you have a comparison point from this season in terms of results and how it feels to be beaten, sometimes badly. To compare it against this season results, you can see and feel the difference in concrete form after, like you said, maybe 3 seasons. You are an experienced manager who surely can work miracles by employing a good training program, so there is no doubt you'll be reaping the rewards of it rather sooner than later. :)

Yes, that's the challenge with that kind of scouting stats. For regular BB league it's somewhat "easier decision" to publish those as they are available through buzzer-manager anyway, but as B-M doesn't recognize HGL as a league, we'll likely never get any HGL related stats through B-M. If you want to publish something, I'm sure we can trust on your evaluation.. :)

I know what you mean, but I'd like to mention that you don't need to worry about point differential too much, as it's not the first decisive factor, but instead match on May 16th will be very important for you, if you expect that teams with lowest salaries this season (your team and Big Chillers) to be fighting for similar kind of league positions.
Frankly that was one of the reasons (not the main reason, as I genuinely feel that in the case of same amount of wins it's better to award higher league position to a team who has won their regular season meeting) why this point differential is not the decisive method when comparing teams. I guess some of us get enough of that (playing patient or some other slow tactics in order to minimize ball possessions and therefore potentially get a smaller loss) already in regular BB league (including me!), and at least for me it takes some of the fun aspect of the game away, if I can't also have fun by making occasional peculiar strategy/lineup choices in a fear of losing to someone by a point differential (while mainly playing an optimal lineup and strategies). Still, keeps matches against lower salary teams reasonable, as I can't throw out any lineup to the match and expect to win any of you guys - if I'd do it, I'd risk the same fate as happened to me on season 32 cup competition (referred to earlier). (Speaking of that, MrJ, I'm sure you perfectly well remember what happened in our previous 3 meetings xD).

New league tables just published a while ago (after 4 Rounds of play)!

An interesting Round, once again! As expected, Rajdersi vs. Elan Demars was the most exciting match of the Round (in terms of a close score), and we now had a first ever overtime played in HGL.

Also couple of other matches, that seemingly ended in not very small point difference, seemed to be quite even after 3 quarters of play. After 3 quarters on Round 4:
- Suuret Muinaiset trailed only by 5 (after finally losing by 15 to Svätý Jur Snakers),
- Holy City Hoopers trailed by 1 (after finally losing to WiMaOlCa by 10), and
- my team led by 1 point (after finally losing to Heywood Big Dogs by 15 - what a collapse in the 4th quarter; coach is surely going to make players run lines after this!).

Regardless of my own loss, it was pleasurable to see that I was able to compete against one of the top opponents of HGL for 36 minutes or so (and actually only trailing by 6, at 44 minute mark), although by losing last quarter by 16 points. :/
However, Ville Kaleva with his HGL Round 4 high, 6 blocks (in 14 minutes!) provided some sunshine to the pile of twigs (as we say in Finland). With male logic, I guess I just need to play him for full 48 minutes next time and he will provide about 20 blocks to my team if the same pace continues... ;)

Thank you, that's excellent to hear! I will add you to a list of interested teams immediately.

Preparations for Season 2 of HGL, as far as "regular managers" of HGL are concerned, will start during this Buzzerbeater season, approximately when we all reach semifinal stages in our regular Buzzerbeater league playoffs.

Preparations include for instance setting up Pickup matches for the whole duration of Season 2 before the season starts, and doing some other smaller tasks that are required from everyone for smooth operation of the league.

Of course, for joining teams it is advisable to familiarize themselves with the practices and rules of HGL well before that. However, as far as rules are concerned, we haven't had to enforce a single penalty so far, so while the rule set might seem like a lengthy one, as long as you stick with some of the most important quidelines/protocols/rules, you'll most likely be fine (being fine meaning being able to follow the rules by memory, at least half intuitively, after you have initially read and understood them).

Like I mentioned, you seem to have a strong team for HGL, especially before Rambrant and Grenhall are starting to lose their skills after couple of seasons... On the other hand, Torsson and Eriksson can still learn new skills, and there are some MVP and Hall of Famer potential young guys on your roster who do not practically have training limits! So are you already able to say if you'd be interested in joining already on the next season of HGL, Season 2?

Season 2 of HGL is currently planned/scheduled to start on next Monday after first official season 69 Buzzerbeater league match.

We have already played more than quarter of our first Regular Season games, and boy have we had some interesting matches! And for me personally, being a close score (after 48 minutes) is not the only thing that can make match interesting...

Speaking of interesting, I guess most of you already know that I like, or shall I even say love, stats.
So if there are more than Hadár and MrJ among us who like statistics and data, and in the case if some of you don't happen to read Official Scores Thread of HGL as actively as this thread, I'll add a partial copy of my earlier message that I sent on HGL Scores Thread, so that it'll reach everyone.
This recently updated team statistics post (that I refer here, and in quotation below) can be found from a familiar place, here: (326590.9).

And you might like to hear about the latest news: fresh batch of new special stats, all-new to HGL have just been made available on that same post - 8 new categories in total!

The magic number for our game tonight is 100.

If I lose by less than 100 it will be a victory for the Serpents.

I can think of a 100 different ways your team is going to inflict pain on my boys tonight.

I will get to see if anyone in my team can manage to score 10 points or 10 rebounds against you.

It's very likely that one of your players will score more than 10 points or have more than 10 rebounds. And it's also possible that I'll score less than 100 points.
