G'day guys,
Nice to be back in a div III league again, hopefully I can stick around beyond a season this time. Exterminators, have we crossed paths before?

Hey guys, as I mentioned earlier I've been bouncing between div 3 and div 4 leagues for a couple of seasons now, are there any of you more experienced/successful teams who have any tips for me? Basically at this stage I have been building up my stadium to generate some cash flow and have a relatively young list that I'm hoping to train up. Any advice would be more than welcome.

Hey mate, just thought I'd give some advice,

Stop building your arena.. it's already one of the biggest in Australia. :) great job.

You need to buy a decent trainer (advanced or better)
and train the HELL out of Lutz-Steffen Hitzfeld and Al Rogers, they are your franchise players.
based on their heights and listed positions, I'd spend a couple seasons while they are young training OD (pressure) and 1on1 for guards. not knowing what their skills are I can't Really give you the best idea.
I'm sure Lutz-Steffen Hitzfeld is on the U21 radar tho.
Train outside skills til Hitzfeld is 21, just hammer them. then go back to inside skills and by the time they're 25/26 you'll have 2 of the best SF/PF's in aus and looking at NT selections.
Should be able to make them dominate for about $100k if you train them right.

other than those 2 guys I would just keep some experiences $20k + players on your list to help you stay in div3, or if you want to promote buy accordingly (depending on your league)

if you train those 2 kids at PG for a few seasons, buy a couple of $50k bigs to keep you competitive, and make sure you have SG/SF with good passing skills... (prolific and above for div 3) that will keep the ball moving to your bigs and help you score on LI offence.

I kind of ramble and am rubbish at constructing these posts... any further questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks mate, much appreciated.
Those two young guys I have snagged in the last two drafts are both apparently being looked at for U21 NT, but the advice I got from Mickyster was to train both at centre in Inside D, Rebounding, Inside shot and blocking, so that's kind of opposite to your advice. I personally was thinking Hitzfeld at 6"7 would be better suited to a SF position, which would fit with what you're suggeting I do with his training, so maybe I'll look to go that way.
My theory was if I pumped cash into my stadium I would have a sustainable cash flow to allow me to maintain a decent team and potentially eventually recruit a gun or two. I've maxed out Corporate box and courtside seats, and I think I have enough Bleachers, but I don't like my ratio of bleachers to lower tier, or whatever the second cheapest are called, so I was planning on improving that by about 1k. I've been trying to snag an exceptional training, I've already got one level down from that, but I keep getting outbid. I take it you would suggest save money on upgrades for a couple of weeks and then go hard at getting the best trainer I can afford? My staff costs are currently about 75k a week, which at this level is ok, but when you slide down to div 4 that can be hard to maintain.
I currently have no 20k players, my most expensive are around 10k or slightly higher. Would you suggest buying in to cling on to my spot in this league, or stick with my list and go two more seasons of training and have a crack at it when I win Div four following the relegation/promotion ride I've been on?
What is the benefit of getting players into the NT teams, by the way, aside from national pride?

Yeah just Micky's focus is on the short term U21... maximising your players salary to make them a single position monster.
(more or less)
In your teams best interests, you want to have their salary rise slowly whilst boosting important skills.
so training them in outside skills whilst not boosting their primary stats as fast, will keep salaries down.

your players are perfect for inside focus SF's or really good PF's in the long term.
you should get the harder training done first while they're young, and for their height the hard stuff is OD, JR, guard stuff.

It's really up to you what you do.

you have 26k seats, there is really no need to build more in my opinion, but if you must then go for it.
you'll never need to build seats again.

i would suggest to look at your team, look at your opposition, and if you think you can maintain 6th spot or BETTER then don't buy anyone.
if having a bit more muscle is needed then you will need to hit the TL and buy what you think you need to fill weaknesses..

the benefits of NT players on your team is, they get more Experience from NT games, and you will also receive mad merchandise bonuses whenever they play for the NT.

In the run home and I'm stoked to apparently be on track to retaining a place in a Div 3 league for the first time. Of course, the wheels could yet come off and I'm not expecting to play a huge role in play offs, but gee its nice to be in contention for a change and not a monty for relegation.

Ok, another quick question. How is country rank and world rank determined? I have noticed mine sliding up, however it is lower than other guys in my league who are lower on our league's standings than me. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

From what I've been told, the country/world rank is based on your win/loss from the past 2 seasons, including League and Cup games, but NOT private league or scrimmages.
so if you continue to win more than the people ranked higher than you, then your rank will obviously get better and better as you go.

hope that helps.
