Anyway, as for the suggestion, I'm sure it won't be implemented.
The reason they removed the 5 ball system was because giving 1 ball is negative and stops people from wanting to post.
On the other hand, this +1 system is more encouraging to post.

In the old system people would get 1 ball for asking questions in the help forum. This is not the type of forum we want to promote. New players should feel comfortable on the forums and feel able to ask for help without getting their posts rated poorly.

In this current system, the great posts will still get rated. No need to poorly rate the remaining posts, what would be the point?

Fixed that for you.

There are plenty of posts that get +1 that have nothing great about them. Wade through any thread where people are complaining (whinging threads, I believe you would call them) and see if some crying chump with nothing to say gets his/her post rated highly.

I don't think this system encourages people to post excessively. It just makes people feel more comfortable posting when losers on the internet aren't rating their post down because of a spelling mistake, or because it is in a whinging thread, or because a newbie asked another question or for whatever other reason.

There is no reason we need to rate posts negatively. If you really don't want to see posts rated up then suggest for the entire post rating system to be removed. But there is no way that allowing negative ratings is in any way good for the game.

You're entitled to your opinion, and while it may differ from mine, I realize I'm also the guy who has been waiting for Facebook to implement a "dislike" button.

Thankfully, you're here with all the answers about what sort of horrendous psychological damage the clicking of buttons do to people. All of modern society owes you a giant debt of gratitude.

You are welcome :P And I didn't say anything that anyone with common sense couldn't work out for themselves.

it never stopped Edju from posting did it? ;รพ

but I get what you mean.

I also like the orange and red ratings though, so we can see how many good posts and how many bad posts anyone has posted. In the same time it would be nice to see the total amount of posts by a user, for instance in box on the left of the post, with his teamdata.
If they implement it, they might be able to disable the red scoring on the helpforums to solve the 'discouraging' problem there. But then again, it would cause other negatives by doing that as well. So I'm not sure...

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

To me the current system just encourages quantity over quality, and frankly I think the effect has been seen in the larger forums. Gettting as many balls as possible has become a competition and it seems to me like quite a few just spams the forums with pointless posts just hoping that they get a random "hit". This to me decreases the interest in these forums, and as an effect I just read them occasionally.

That said I see the problem with negative balls, but I think this could be solved by just showing the total sum on each post, but whenever the sum is negative it should just show 0 (possibly it could show the actual sum for your own posts as this would give you feedback when people disagree too). It should work the same with the grand total, only the sum should be displayed, but whenever it is a negative number 0 should be displayed.
