Lots of people could afford Moran's salary but that is far from the only factor involved when adding a player to your roster.

As it is, he's back on the waiver wire again now.

I hope a Canadian team gets him. I would buy him if I was in a higher division than I am right now.

His salary would only fit on a D1 team really, a D2 team would almost certainly lose $$$ with him.

Personally, I think he's a poor investment for his salary/skill.

I could not agree more. Moran's salary is higher than most with his skill set and his total lack of secondaries makes him a tough sell. And that is coming from a guy with a 200k center, although my center may have a few more secondary skills.

Would he make a good backup center, though?

You're sorta missing the point here. Nobody pays a backup Center $260,000 a week, that's how much a top BB team pays their star players. The problem is that he's not a very good star player because he's not very well-rounded so you could find much better players with $260,000 salaries.

It's like a team paying Bargnani top $$$ to be their star player, he's not a terrible player, simply a terrible investment. ;)

Hey, Bargnani was the 1st overall pick in the 2008 draft, Don't make fun of him or the media will come after you.
I got it now. Correct me if I'm wrong but he would be useful if your team has an inside philosophy, though. Wouldn't he?

He would be a fine choice for an inside team. The issue is that it is critical to spend wisely in BB, otherwise you will have a team filled with holes. So spending 260k/week on Moran is money poorly spent.

Here is the thing, a quick look thru the transfer list found me this guy:

His salary is 198k/week.

Jump Shot: prominent Jump Range: atrocious
Outside Def.: average Handling: strong
Driving: proficient Passing: respectable
Inside Shot: stupendous Inside Def.: stupendous
Rebounding: prodigious Shot Blocking: proficient

Or you could have Moran at 260k/week.

Jump Shot: strong Jump Range: mediocre
Outside Def.: pitiful Handling: inept
Driving: respectable Passing: pitiful
Inside Shot: prodigious Inside Def.: colossal
Rebounding: phenomenal Shot Blocking: strong

I don't know if everyone would feel the same as me. But with that comparison there is NO chance that I would take on Moran and his ugly contract. This is a perfect example of how not to build a mono skilled monster, and the reason for it.

I think I understand it better now. Did you bid on the 198k salary guy?

It continues. The pain of defeat. The joy of victory. The Consolation Tournament continues.
Canada sits at 5th in the rankings with a record of 2-0. They are behind the 1st placed Ukrainians by a 25 point differential. The road will get tougher for Canada as they will take on the 29th placed Switzerland on Monday, a country that is only one place behind Canada in the rankings.
Canada has good news and bad news going into that game on Monday. The good news is that last time this two teams faced off, the final score was 127-118 in favor of the Canadians.
The bad news is that Canada are in Switzerland giving their sharp Swiss opponents the home court advantage.
Bad blood will be spilled, bragging rights are at stake.
This is a match you don't want to miss. Game time is set for 10:30 A.M. Be there or be square.
