I could see a Boston v Miami matchup in the ECF.
I'm rooting for Boston if this happens. The spotlights been on Miami this season, so I'm rooting for the, underdog,if you can call the Celtics that.

Largely, I agree with the "one trick"... but 'fail'?

This season - yes. Tho' a 5th seed beating a 4th isn't such a stretch.
2010 - ECF
2009 - NBA Finals
2008 - ECSF
2007 - Playoffs, first round loss

You have to go back to 2006 to where they didn't make the playoffs, and over the past 5 years they have a series win/loss record of 7/5 (roughly... I think - I'm still a bit fuzzy: just got up!).
That's a load of 'fail' that I think many teams would kill for.

I consider it a failure in comparison to expectations yes. It's not like I am saying they suck or they are a failure as a team. My point is that everyone seems to give them more credit than they have earned, like you and many thinking things like 'Boston better watch out for Orlando, especially with Perkins gone". Orlando wins alot of regular season games, yes. When they play average or below avg teams they dominate usually. Once they get in the playoffs against teams with multiple great players, I consider them the underdog by virtue of their one trick ability. The year they made the finals it was based in large part on their ability to hit the 3's with teams collapsing on The Big Man. Live by the 3, die by the 3.

If the lakers had been oussted in the 1st round this season I would have considered this year a 'failure' for them, compared to expectations. It does not mean I think they are equivelent to the Timberwolves, just that they fell short of their ability and our expectations. That is Orlando every year.

You posted concern for Boston's chances vs Orlando because the Celtics lost Perkins and didnt have a big man who could slow down Superman. If that is the case, how the heck did Atlanta do it? (rhetorical)

Well then... "this season's a failure", rather than "it usually fails in the playoffs", because pointedly, that last description would be incorrect. I mean... c'mon: the Magic fall short of expectations every year? Really?
You really shouldn't offer blanket generalisations. Orlando rolled the dice on a trade, it was a bad deal in retrospect... but for people to castigate what they've done AFTER the fact is simply exercising 20/20 hindsight.

And if the last is a rhetorical question, I'm somewhat aghast. Because to insinuate that Atlanta stopped Howard is pretty amazing.

I never insinuated Atlanta stopped Howard. This is where you and I always fail to connect. Atlanta Stopped Orlando, something FAR more signicant than stopping Howard. Team sport

So it was a trade that did it this year huh? and last year, and before that? Did you expect Orlando to get past Atlanta? Didnt you expect Boston to have a hard time getting past Orlando? (hint, you have said so 3 times in the forums). Sounds like Orlando fell short of your expectations
