MVP and ROY are meaningless awards. Asking a magic 8-ball, a fortune teller, or an apple is a better method of choice than asking a group of *shudder* sportswriters.

Fields has been far better than Griffin, and Westbrook has been far better than anyone.

You probably only think that because you have probably seen many more Fields games then Griffin games.

Fields is a very good player but to say he has been FAR better than griffin is just simply stupid. Stop being a Knicks homer.

Check the stats. The game is about more than SportsCenter highlights. Fields is one of the best rookies in NBA history.

Fields 10 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2 apg, with 52% FG, 37% 3pt, 73% FT. One of the best rookie players ever? I dont think so.

Griffin 21 ppg, 12 rpg, 3 apg, 51% FG, 50% 3pt, 58% FT. The only think Fields wins in is FT%. I think you need to check the stats and get your head straight that Fields is not the most amazing rookie ever. He's good but not as good as you think

I checked the stats
Griffin averages 20+ pts and 10+ rebounds and 3 assists.
Landry Fields is a good player but only averages 10 pts , 7.5 rbs and 1.9 asts.
Fields is definately NOT one of the best rookies in NBA history. You are a homer(one who has heavy and unrealistic favoritism towards their own team. EX: You and a knicks player)

i'm talking about advanced metrics that actually mean something. Mike James and Ricky Davis have averaged 20ppg before.

lol @ the guy citing 3pt% as if griffin's percentage on like two attempts matters at all

Show me those "advanced metrics". No matter what you have, you simply can not prove that Fields is far better than Griffin. Just admit it, you said something dumb and you are wrong. Fields is NOT one of the best rookies in NBA history, not even close. With this being said, I think Landry Fields is a great player.

WP48
Fields - .296
Griffin - .255

TS%
Fields - 61.3%
Griffin - 54%

There are plenty of stats that show Griffin is better as well. One of the reasons people think Landry Fields is so great is because he does it in over half as many possessions as Griffin. So while it's easy to say oh Griffin avgs over 20 ppg, he does it with twice as many possessions. Which player you'd rather have depends greatly on the needs of your team. If you need a playmaker who can score a lot with a high usage rate, then you want Blake Griffin. If you want a player who can still play extremely well without the ball in his hand all the time and who is also extremely effecient, you want Landry Fields on your team.

As far as who deserves rookie of the year, you can't give ROY to Fields for the same reason you can't give the MVP to Joakim Noah or Anderson Varejao. These players are great and they are incredibly valuable to their teams, but they don't have a high enough usage rate to justify making them the MVP/ROY. There's no guarantee they'd be able to put up equal numbers if they did have a higher usage rate either. Most players are who they are.
