16 and 0 is a good way to start. I would have liked to have played you again before the finals... :)

I have never had an undefeated season... It is hard work... You will TIE a game against some bloke who CTs you. Check out legends v mash brewers this week. Bet he wasn't expecting that loss.

Yeah, saw that one myself. It allowed you to go straight to the top of the ladder. Stay there and reap the finals cahs for having HCA...nothing you don't know already of course. But now that you're there...?

yeah, hard to stay undefeated all season although he's gone 20-2, 21-1 and 21-1 in his last 3 seasons...impressive given the two teams that promoted in last two years: Urmummas and CROCKERS.

THe last season I really went for it (Season 15) I went 21-1 from memory and won Div IV Championship.

EDIT: Actually, that was a great, and somewhat fortunate, finals for me. My starting C, Haluka, who had dominated all season (mind you he was anly a 17K C) average 15ppg and 12rpg went down with an injury in the first game from memory. He had been pivotal to the Magick's winning season. MEanwhile, in a shocking turn of events, the then favourites, Windsor As, who had a huge player salary at the time, went BOT just before the finals! This allowed two other strong teams, Kahibah Hunters and Twelve Monkeys to fight it out to meet me on the other side. The Twelve Monkeys, with their 25k PF monster, Martinez, and $30k C was too much for the Kahibahs to handle and the Monkeys won their way through to the final series against me. Losing my PF, Haluka, made me think I was surely going to lose the finals as I now had 1 big (a great big actually, $40k C, Cuciuffo) to try and stop the Monkey's two bigs. Luckily for me I also had a solid SG, Zebadilla, and my great enthusiasm and correct tactics allowed me to score a strong 26 point win in the first final game on home soil. The second game, however, was nothing like the first. My original player, Filicori, had to play PF against the monster Martinez. And what an effort he put in. In fact, his 15 pts 11 reb effort against Martinez immortalised him into Magick folklore. As such he will never be sold...ever. This was the day a $5k PF stood toe-to-toe with a $25k PF and managed to stay on court until the last quarter before fouling out to the cheers of the home crowd. A 6 point victory saw the Magick claim their first Championship in a clean sweep of the Monkeys. Oh, the memories!

Ha, nice mate, actually doubly nice, good pick up at C for cheap, nice thinking with the poor GS in preparation for the bust out season next :D What if, hypothetically Flames doesn't challenge me this season and holds his coin over until next, or he does and I sit here after 3 runner ups!! God willing this will not be the case, I think I am a bit better prepared this time round.

Yeah, he's got the right skill set to do the job next season. Wasn't going to buy any bigs until the start of next season but saw him and thought bugger it. Cheap enough and, as you noted, the GS didn't put me off like everybody else. Their loss, my gain. Can't wait to add the big PF and some backups next season. The Magick is slowly taking shape. Given all the discussions on how LI is the dominant offense, it was great to see my boys take it down last night with no big defenders.

As for the Flames, if Kintoc buys up I still think you've got the necessary fire power. Although...

Mind you, if he weighs up whether facing you this season or one of us next season he may be too reluctant to take you on this season given your expensive and very decent lineup.

What say you, Kintoc?

BTW, Plasier is looking nice. Surely he's a $50k+ guard next season? And yes, he still has it over Hot Rod and Can Do on account of age. If you do promote (very likely) we'll have to schedule a scrimmage at some stage so we can finally, after three seasons, put our best against each other. Then again, with the cash you'll get for promoting, maybe I'll be facing an unbeatable team? Still, it would be interesting.

Just so you know, SchaBoom, I am contemplating CTing you this Saturday. Thought I'd give you the heads up. It's not a certainty but a possibility. Why? I really need to lose some games to give myself a better chance at finishing lower on the ladder and a better shot in the draft. CTing you will not win the game for me but will drop my enthusiasm enough to enable me to lose games after Saturdays. If I do CT you I will NOT be fielding my best lineup...training is still my priority.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. The only reason I'm thinking I shouldn't CT you is I don't want to spoil your 2nd chance at promotion via that BOT cleanup. You deserve to promote. Simple. Anyway, I will let you know prior to the game if I'm going to do it so you can make the decision as to how you want to respond.

Finally (feel like I've written an essay), I will, if time permits, do my annual pre-finals post a few days before the finals start. I'm going to be moving house twice in the next three weeks so will be busy.

Ha, thanks mate, always a pleasure to read your essays.. I wouldn't have changed my strats one way or the other, a 200k Centre means that you really don't have to be too concerned about much... Yeah I am expecting Plasier to be about 60-65k next season with maybe one or 2 more seasons training left in him, if I can get him to about 80k that will probably do, seeing as he is neither a pure PG/SG but rather a combo guard..

Kintoc has been very quiet lately, maybe he doesn't want to give any insight into his tactics.. :)

Yeah, Cuan's GS is only mediocre so I wasn't surprised he fouled out against Plasier. When Hot Rod came in I thought he might slow Plasier's shooting but didn't really do that. As for OD, yeah, Hot Rod's doing okay although Plasier snuck one through. lol Hot Rod will also end up being a combo guard which I prefer. I don't think guards can afford to be mono-skilled players...need some flexibility in tactics. Dogan did his job tonight...mostly. He got his 48 mins, that's what matters at the moment.

BTW, what are your thoughts on the ongoing discussions about LI being the dominant offensive tactic? Yeah, sure the majority of managers are using it successfully, but there are still succesful outside-focused teams. Hell, I'm planning to be one. Although, I must admit that even with the idea in my head of how I want my team to look like, I will still have that LI option with driving guards.

@Kintoc...where are you mate? Poke you head in and let's know you're still here...

I think LI is dominant because it is used more, it is an easier offense. I prefer my outside O games but with my team the way it stands I have either or ability which is a powerful weapon under my belt. I am a big fan of patient if you have one or two very good offensive players, re our game last night..

An outside offensive is more dangerous in my belief IF... You have the inside defensive aspect covered.. That's my 2 cents :)

Yeah, completely agree with with outside offense capabilities with strong bigs. This is what my end game is. And yeah, I'm a big fan of patient. Sure I used it a lot this season because I've been tanking but I have also used it to get my high JS shooters to destroy a couple of teams on their own.
