It is just maths. Don't forget at the economic update you pay salaries, staff and scouting, receive merchandising and TV but DO NOT get the game income.

Another question :D

I think I read somewhere that when looking for 18yr olds for the new season that it was best to wait for a bit as there was a chance they could switch to being 19yr olds or something.

Does that make sense or am I totally missing something?

Recently drafted players don't receive a DMI rating until the first training update of the season. Easiest way to avoid getting stuck with a 19yo around draft time is to check that their DMI is 0 before purchasing.
