Pilipinas lost a nail biter against Iran, 137-134

In a tightly contested game throughout where both teams were trading blows, Iran managed to one up us at home. Atoy Fulgencio was stellar for us, managing a 21pts & 13rebs double-double. So does starting PG Hutch Ordoves who managed to get a double-double as well with 19pts & 14asts.

Ito na yung last game sa round na ito at magtatapos tayo na may 3 panalo at 3 talo, good for 4th sa Pool A. Pasok pa rin naman tayo for second round with 5th placed Korea holding a 2-4 record.

Next week, second round naman at ito ang magiging paghahati sa mga nakapasok.

Pilipinas grinds it out against Malaysia, 76-59

Ibang klaseng opener para sa second round campaign natin. We managed to get a win against a feisty Malaysia team who kept us under 50pts before the 4th quarter. Kung gaano ka-high scoring yung last game natin, kabaliktaran naman ito. Brickfest malala.

Tatlo lang sa starters natin ang naka-manage na maka-double-digit sa puntos. Abysmal shooting from the team but we managed to have 17blks. Fortunato Arcega claimed a third with 6, Dave Lemoncito had 4 while Leandro Toledanes and Alan Adrian Marquese each had 3.

Next week, Australia naman ang makakaharap natin. This is a rematch of our first round encounter. Exciting at close din ang naging laro natin laban sa kanila ngunit natalo tayo. Sa ngayon, may 1-0 record na rin sila matapos ma-upset ang Taiwan, beating them by 16.

Pilipinas Gets Sweet Revenge, Downs Australia 85–71

Pilipinas got the payback they were waiting for, overpowering Australia 85–71 in a revenge game fueled by grit, hustle, and dominance on the boards. After dropping their last encounter, Pilipinas came out with fire, crashing the glass for 67 rebounds compared to Australia’s 51 and protecting the paint with a staggering 15 blocks.

Jiffrey Sumalapao led the charge, torching the Aussies with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in a complete performance. Melecio Sidad chipped in 15 points while Sixto Nical added 13, giving Pilipinas a balanced scoring punch. Fortunato Arcega made his presence felt with a monster 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 blocks.

Next week, Singapore naman ang makakalaban natin na may 1-1 record after squeezing past Malaysia in a nailbiter.

Nawa’y maganda na naman ang GS natin next week to continue our run to the knockouts.
