Aparenly, nowadays is not really smart to leave him open in the final minute of a game either... SPECIALLY during the NBA finals...

ONTOPIC: In my opinion, you shouldn't move him from his suited position(Bowen matchuped against nash or amare, but he still played the 3), cause i don't think he can destroy your offense. The thing is that, to me, it's almost the same as a great scorer with no D: you need to put in the balance if having more defense is worth sacrificing some offense.
IMO balance is the key to consider here.

I apologize for my lack of spelling,

and defensiv stoppers also works here, i have a very long time an Wallace like Center or should i say two ;)

And maybe my ex Guard Rocha, counts as another D specialist, even when he wasn't a total scrub in offense.

you are right NBA teams can still be great with players lacking in shooting skills, but imagine how much better they would be had wallace been able to knock down some shots. Also the nba is different than any other level of play because there are so many insanely good scorers that having 4 can be enough

I don't think it's possible to hide a player with no offensive skills at all, but a defensive player who has high passing and reasonable handling will at least be able to pass the ball off more often which means less poor shots and will hopefully turn the ball over less often. It's also possible to have a good defensive player with a one dimensional offensive game - so a guard with high driving and reasonable inside shot but limited jumpshooting or very high handling and passing but poor shooting skills.

Depending on the exact skillset you and your opponents you can hide a player on offense at SF since so many teams use either guards or powerforwards there instead of real SFs, at least outside of the top divisions. A player with only respectable jump shot isn't at a big disadvantage if he's guarded by a PF with only respectable or strong OD.

and rules who made it scorers easy ;) And when Ben Wallace also have offense, the Pistons wouldn''t have him in their rooster because he would be a superstar like Howard. So they get the skills they need, to build their team and in this case this was defence and you could make the same here.

Maybe this team is an example for it, their Guards are OD monster with a bit of passing (34582)
