trust me, i did not want to be the one that messes this up! :-)

My bad! I am in the Louisville, KY area. We have always been Eastern Time Zone.

Not really sure where I went wrong.

It seems that Kentucky is one of those states which is using two time zones simultaneously, so for instance Bowling Green and Murray use Central Time (which is one more hour behind). But like you said, Louisville is on Eastern Time Zone.
So who knows what is this about, but we'll go with this now.

@all: 1 hour off is needed to be accepted (for reasons that we can't narrow down enough to be sure of - it could be DST issues, as that's not applied to all countries and even when it is, it's not applied at the same time of year for all countries), but only when you are accepting matches (like mentioned in previous posting).

On other words, it is not allowed to organize matches (send match offer) deliberately on wrong time, or accept match offers that are clearly sent with wrong time. (This could be the case when you know your opponent is from the same time zone than you are, let alone from the same country, if it's a country where only 1 time zone is applied. T-Lit's case is hopefully only or one of rare exceptions here on this timing issue).

As you may have noted, all participating teams of HGL will be required to send box score links for all of their regular season games to this HGL Scores Season 1 Official Thread before Season 1 starts.

First notes A)-F), and then instructions on how to complete the process.

Notes:
A) these score links will be added to one post per manager, that can then be edited throughout the season if needed.
Links will be added to one post/manager to avoid overcrowding of HGL Scores thread, and for being easily searchable.
B) links to box scores (from your post) might be copied to the official HGL scores thread's 'Schedule/scores'-post
C) instead/in addition I might link your box score posts on official HGL schedule/scores posting, so that each team has access to box scores of your games easily
D) in playoffs, we might use this same box score post (and same link) created by each team; TBA
E) please never delete box score post then created by you, we might need it a lot later in order to confirm things.
F) MrJ has already provided us one example on how to accomplish this, here: (324689.683). But please still read through instructions below before proceeding.

Instructions on how to proceed with writing one post about your HGL box score links:
Remember, that you can't finish this process completely before all HGL matches for regular season are organized properly and visible in your team schedule page.

1. Go to your official BB schedule page, which is found from https://www.buzzerbeater.com/team/XXXXXX/schedule.aspx
(where X is your team number)
2. Click "Tactics"-link (between team names) on your HGL match that you wish to link (If term isn't 'Tactics' in English, it is the link what you use to set up your lineup and tactics for the match).
3. Once you enter on tactics/line up setting page, match number of that Pickup (PU) match is revealed to you in the browser's address line. It looks like this: https://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/XXXXXXXXX/tactics.aspx and number in place of this XXXXXXXXX is your match number.

Now at this point, you have two ways to proceed, described below as 4A (that MrJ used) and 4B.
Choose a preferable way for you and please stick with it for the whole season. Method 4A would be preferable.

In your box score-post on HGL Scores Season 1 Official Thread, you enter links for 15 matches.
For each game include Round number, a date game is played, and name of your opponent (like in MrJ's example, link above, even though he didn't include dates of matches).

So to your post, link the box score in either way:

4A):
By following above instructions you are on the match tactics page already, so copy/make note of the number of the PU match (visible at web browsers' address line). Then on this thread update it to your box score link post, and do so by using 'a basketball button' on the page into where you write text to be sent to forum; that is located above the text frame. Pressing a button will automatically create a string of text such as '[match=XXX.XX]', and as you replace XXX.XX with your match number, the box score link will be automatically created. It will create a functional link to a match box score, which will look like this: (132386153).

4B) by a direct web page link to box score, such as: https://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/XXXXXXX/boxscore.aspx (in where XXXXXXX represents the match number). You can simply access this by visiting above mentioned match tactics page. By following above instructions you are on the match tactics page already, so Pickup match number is visible to you. If you choose to use this 4B-method, you can copy-paste https://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/XXXXXXXXX/boxscore.aspx-link to your season box scores link 15 times (one for each match) on every line, and then for each line replace XXXXXXXXX with your Pickup match number.

5. Do this with all matches.

6. Ready.

Sorry, no accusation, but what I really don't understand is, why the entire organization is spread across multiple threads: (326590.42) and (326589.26)?!

There are multiple reasons, which I think I have written about in a lengthy manner in this thread earlier.

But as you can see, there is lots of information available on both threads (and more to come), and these forums are not ideal for handling lots of information.

Several things need to be considered when creating official thread(s), for instance usability over long time, continuity (preferable to not make major changes if not necessary for next seasons), ease of access to essential information (note, that both threads first and in future part of second page is filled with informative articles/posts, and in one thread implementation this would spread to the third page turn at the very least), and ensuring every participating manager would see everything as intended (in time) is also important.
Having a separate website for this would remove most of these problems/need for two forums.

First and foremost reason for it though, was that my idea of having every team adding all their regular season box score links to one post, had not seen a daylight at that point. So we were expecting to have 120-240 (120 matches played in HGL) separate posts during regular season from managers announcing their box score links of every single match.

Now this would effectively hinder the usability of the official thread, if it's a mix of this and that ((nobody really wants to see those box score link posts, but they are necessary as they are not visible to other users, and with this new implementation we are able to limit those posts to 16 (one for each team)).

5. Do this with all matches.

6. Ready.

One of the easiest methods, that creates a standard for the league and for box score reporting, would be to use this official schedule as a starting point, here: (326590.5).

For illustration (and usability) purposes I copy-pasted a schedule from that post (found from below).
You are free to copy-paste this league schedule information (below) to your new HGL Scores Season 1 Official Thread-post, which includes links to your all regular season matches.

After each line (on the table below) add:
A) Names of both teams playing in match, or
B) 'v.' or 'vs.', and name of opposition (for example Trouville BBC, or official abbreviation TRO, if you don't have energy to write the whole name).

In addition you of course need to add box score link to the match after team name(s).
Instructions for that provided here: (326590.42) (close to the end of post, at 'So to your post, link the box score in either way').

Regular Season 1 match days:

RS Round 1: Monday, April 7th, 2025
RS Round 2: Friday, April 11th, 2025
RS Round 3: Monday, April 14th, 2025
RS Round 4: Friday, April 18th, 2025

I have to agree, Wagner.

Firstly, and again, we fully appreciate the extensive work you have done and are doing for the HGL.

Secondly, despite the fact that I am on BB pretty much every day and reading every post that is posted, the sheer volume of 'information' now has me struggling to:

1. Know which thread I should be reading for particular information/instructions; and
2. Which thread i should post in as there is so much cross-over now

Not sure how we can this at this point...

@T-Lit...1 hour is nothing. You did nothing wrong. There will be minor challenges along the way as we fine-tune this league. Time-zones were always going to be a little tricky (which is why I personally thought it unneccesary). That aside, Wagner has done well to organise them.

We are close to a start, everyone.

You see, this is at the development stage, in the sense that it is finding it's form.
Good example is what I wrote about just a while ago figuring out how we should implement sending box score links (not 120-240 posts, which was the original idea). Everything affects everything, and this especially to HGL Scores thread.

As for three times the same post - I will let you keep your opinion on that. However, for me that also means extra work so I don't do it for fun. I do it because we must get some important information through on time to participating managers, and practices (on where to go with what information) are still just forming. BBMail is usable in some instances, but it's ridiculously limited use makes it a tool which you want to use as little as ever possible (especially when having to inform large number of managers).

On thoroughness of instructions, there could be multiple views. But personally I don't like things done half-assed. And I might not be master in condensing things. But league essentials need to be out there (like I said, something is also still missing from official threads in terms of information). It is not beneficial nor enough, nor sensible, that info on how league works is only in my head and then managers would need to ask about every other thing from me separately.

I would also like to quote MrJ here, to present another point:
Secondly, despite the fact that I am on BB pretty much every day and reading every post that is posted, the sheer volume of 'information' now has me struggling to:

1. Know which thread I should be reading for particular information/instructions; and

Make no mistake, I share this same problem. Like I said, this is also growing pain, and we are (hopefully) growing out of this thread. However, I have seen that most managers still conversate here instead, even though that I've multiple times said in messages that I hope we'll transfer our conversation to official threads. For that reason, I have also sent essential messages also to this thread. As mentioned million times, forums are mediocre at best as a means to keep everyone informed on key aspects, changes and such, as it simultaneously accommodates regular conversation which may bury important information. Good example was the 10 day stretch on this forum - someone said there were about 220 messages sent during 10 days. Good luck everyone trying to find information from there... :) (I had also some posts during that 'run' that would need to be checked out later, but it takes lots of time to find them and I have plenty of more essential things to do - good example of forum usability, especially when we are talking about other than first page that's visible in a thread).

As for usage purpose of threads, Scores thread is not planned for 'everyday HGL conversations' in the first place (however, this principle might become more flexible as we will implement 16 box score posts/season practice instead of 200+ score posts/season), and Official HGL thread serves as a platform for that.

As for what information should be looked from which official thread, one can check out the first about 11 posts on each official HGL thread to see, which kind of information they contain. That's a clue what kind of content to look for. They have not been changed in major way since the publication in terms of changing into another thread - new content has been published though, of course. Some posts are published on both, due to being essential or because I have not decided whether they should remain on both or not.

Yes, Season 1 is closing in, and I do want to remind all HG managers also on this thread that only 6 out of 16 have confirmed they have arranged all their matches for regular season: (326589.9)

Other thing that every manager participating in HGL needs to do after that essential process is finished, is creating and editing your season box score post on HGL Scores Season 1 Official Thread before Season 1 starts. Please note that we are just about a week away from start, so it would be wise to start finalizing this process, everyone!

Instructions for that found from these two posts (that I now also copied to another Official Thread),
here(326590.42),
and here (326590.43).

If you want to see how your box score link post should at least approximately look like, then after reading through previously linked informative posts, please check out this post: (326590.44), which is actually the same as my post just below.

@all HGL participating managers:
you need to provide a similar kind of list (as below) before Season 1 on this HGL Scores-thread (326590.42).
As I don't know if all HGL managers still read official thread actively, I sent it here on Homegrown teams II-thread too.
Instructions on how to easily create this box score link listing is found on messages (326590.42) and (326590.43).

An Apology

Hi everyone.

Sadly, I had made an almost-fatal mistake believing 2 of my players (who I purchased this season) were former players of mine. In other words, I thought they were original players and were part of my HG team. I was wrong. I confused their names. Thankfully Wagner alerted me to this error now, before the HGL started, saving me some embarrassment.

I was certain Steggall was a retuned 'original' player previously fired. Turns out I probably mixed him up with a Steggall I had when playing BB previously as this is my 3rd reincarnation in BB.

I was unsure with Cheung and had done a quick check early in the season as I recalled firing a Cheung. I was wrong.

I am devastated. One of those players, Steggall, is my trainee SF who had a huge training season and was the foundation I was building a team around. I had planned next season to give him the big skills he needed to become a well-rounded SF. In short, I had mapped out the next 3-5 seasons building around him.

The second player, Cheung, was eventually going to be my future SG and was going to replace my aging SG.

I am devastated as I now need to make a big decision:

1. I can sell both of these players to ensure I am truly 100% HG and keep my spot in the HGL. I can do this before the HGL starts next week or so. This would also ensure no huge disruptions to the scheduling that has already taken place for the HGL. My withdrawal at this point will cause considerable problems with minimal time left to fix them. That, of course, would affect all of you competing in the HGL. The selling of both of these players will be financially painful too as neither will likely sell for their worth.

2. Alternatively, I can withdraw from the HGL, spend 1 more season as a non-HG team and train Steggall hard in his big skills so as to gain financially from his sale at the end of the season. I would also sell Cheung and then, with their sales, become 100% HG and ready for Season 2 of the HGL.

The problem with option 1 is that I will have to run an 8-man roster for the entire Season 68. This will be extremely difficult while training. I am currently running PU game simulations to determine how possible line-ups could work with 8 while getting an idea for how bad their weekly minutes would be. I am trying hard to make 8 players viable.

The problem with option 2 is that I would not be HG for another season when, mentally, I am ready and eager to begin this journey (thought I was starting it). There is also no guarantee I would make any more money on Steggall and Cheung at the end of next season than I would if I sold them now.

So, this is where I stand.

I wanted to let you know what has occurred (my stupidity in overlooking what I thought were returning HG players) and let you know that I will have to make a decision tonight. 8 players would be a tough ask. In my 50+ seasons playing BB I have never run such a light roster.

My apologies.
