4. SLZH (SGP #3)
Plus :
- Playoff tested caliber players
- Destructive frontcourt lineup.
- Team with plenty offense books either Inside or Outside.
- Well defensive effort.
Minus :
- Aging key players
- Physical plays often leads to foul trouble & suspensions.
Summary :
Up from Country rank #10 to rank #3, SLZH has climbed back to SBBL with much higher profile as S16 Tournament Champs. With moral boost advantage, SLZH is suddenly one of SBBL contender that's going to make noise in Great 8 that have already had Fat-A & Pekanbaru Jaguars. Nabbed Finland NT Jarno Merinkagas (11ppg 12rpg 27mpg) on earlier season to boost more their chance to their second Tournament title, but the lady fortuna speak the other way, as SLZH was narrowly stranded on semifinal by Eric United 97-99. With the failure, manager Lee Zheng Hao plans to rebuild the core, which could cost the playoff spots for SLZH at the end of season. Much focused inside this season, SLZH Béla Gorbói saw a little decline, averaging only 16ppg from last season 22ppg. Instead now SLZH is being led by their bigman Romeo Laigre 16.2ppg 10rpg
Prediction : #4
3. Fat Alexander(SGP #6)
Plus :
- Deadly shooting team with well balanced offensive power.
- Hard nosed intensity which always placed Fat-A as Great 8 contender.
Minus :
- Perimeter defense somehow flashy, but inconsistent.
- Need more inside depth.
Summary :
Still featuring their dynamic duo Yeo Tse Hui (25ppg) and Gianpaolo Montecucco (20ppg), Fat-A managed to stand tough within the top 4 of the furious competition on Great 8. This time, Fat-A has much more help than last season, with the arrival of Roland "Dutch Admiral" Krassnitzer (13.4ppg 15.2rpg 1.9bpg), and Denmark NT General Michael Christoffersen (14.8ppg 6apg). Both player filled their role well to support their main duo. With Foong Chin Huat still strong at reserve role (14.2ppg) and Adis Mehmedovic (9.8ppg 10rpg) kept improving, Fat-A are a far better team than last season.
