S17 - SBBL - Mid-Season Report Card
1. Xavis (SGP #14)
Plus :
- The arrival of Amilcare Antedime makes Xavis team a double headed bigman monsters with Pavel Mlýnek.
Minus :
- Player intensity.
- Game tactic.
- Perimeter player.
Summary :
Xavis lineup now look better with their recent shopping on Leon Piascik and Amilcare Antedime. Both players expected to help Xavis slowing down the bleeding on SBBL arena. Their next game at home vs EU should be able to indicate whether they're trying to mount up on Great 8 standings.
Prediction : #7
2. Bobblehead (SGP #15)
Plus :
- Plays hard every game.
- Strong shooting game.
Minus :
- Defense on both ends.
- Very thin bigman lineup. George Harman & Khalifa Diouk clearly are not ready for SBBL.
Summary :
Although being overpowered on each aspect of the game, Bobblehead still possess the killer instinct, especially when bombing from the treys on Crunch Time. Nicola Veridiani (25.1 ppg 5.1 apg), Bill Swain (23.8 ppg) & Oben Erzan (18.0 ppg) are the three musketeers that have made people raised their brows on S17 National Tournament. As an underachiever, they beat Shohoku Backers & Lycans BB before run out of gas and stranded at quarterfinals.
Prediction : #8
3. Compassvale United (SGP #8)
Plus :
- Deep bench player.
- Strong quality playing of each players. PG (Giovanni Dushku), SG (Chow Chun May), SF (Mel Miller), PF (Lin Baoxiang), C ( Wang Xiangjia)
Minus :
- Still adjusting tactic & lineup.
- Need to win more on road games if they are aiming for playoff.
Summary :
A brilliant breakthrough made by CPU, who improved their consistent play, player condition, and even brought in some strong role players (Mel Miller, Remy Wisgerhof & SGP-U21 Lin Chuan Loong), resulted an almost jackpot on S17 SGP Tournament Champs before Eric United snatch it away on final seconds. Their Taiwanese gunner Chow Chun May (20.3 ppg), has been one of the reason of CPU success. Together with Giovanni Dushku (15.8ppg & 6apg), Lin Baoxiang (15ppg 10rpg) and Wang Xiangjia (14.5ppg 14.5rpg). However, to climb up at playoff spot, they must figure out how to win on road games, as SLZH, Fat-A, Cheesecake and STN are very strong team playing at their arena.
Prediction : #5
4. Shwe Toe Ngal (SGP #12)
Plus :
- Athletic & physical lineup which make them dominant at fast-paced game.
- Very hard for opponent team to come out from Golden Beach Arena with a smile.
- Strong team even without any players with six-figured salary.
Minus :
- Risky defensive tactic.
- Lack of depth to support their key players.
Summary :
Entering their second season in SBBL, STN still bubbling at fifth position despite the nightmare competition on Great 8 conference. Manager Ko Phyo has done a good job to keep the team happy and competitive. Their last acquisition wingman Vasco Antunes (13ppg 6rpg) & playmaker Vratislav Altman (14ppg 7apg) has increased the defensive intensity a lot and ball flowing for their running offense. While their two new guys doing the blue collar work, STN offense are still based heavily on triangle Jakub Ejankowsi (22.3ppg 13rpg), Nikolas Lepka (15ppg 14rpg 3.1apg) and Celso Valente (21ppg 5rpg 4apg).
Prediction : #6
