I have just come to trust the quality of your work so much, that it sometimes could even cause me to draw quick conclusions based only on your opinion. (Maybe being slightly pressed on time affects this, but still it's a good reminder). Having said that, I'm not suggesting you should lower your standards/work quality with regards to HGL, I like how things are right now...

You flatter me. You have done an extraordinary amount of work to get this HGL up and ready, mate. I'm not organising my PU games just yet...but will do next week.

Well, you have clearly been the most active and helpful manager from the whole HG community to help get HGL up and running, so you definitely deserve thanks/praise for all your contributions!

It has admittedly been a lot of work (which in part only starts when the league starts, hopefully it will all turn out to be manageable in terms of required work/presence), more than I actually expected. And of course, it's still partly work in progress. But laying the strong foundation here is what I aim to do, so it will take off some of the workload from Season 2 and onwards. While it's been a lot of work, I think (and hope) it will be worth it!

It will definitely be worth it.

Thanks - positive attitude to begin with is a good starting point, so yes, I also think so.

Speaking of a starting point, to me it (it being publishing my post on official forums) seems to get closer, as nobody has commented on my previous post on HGL regular season scheduling/match organizing instructions (mentioning that it would contain errors).

You may just have to 'push the button' then.

You may just have to 'push the button' then. :)

Indeed. :) I think as supposedly PU match challenges aren't expiring in this case, and as we have more time this time around than normally (although we can adjust the window for organizing regular season matches to start and finish earlier from Season 2 onward, if all regular season matches can still be organized within one time window), there's not necessarily a need to send BBMail to all participating managers about the start of the scheduling process.

@ All managers participating to HGL Season 1:

I want to inform all you also on this thread, that I have now published an announcements on official HGL threads about the start of scheduling/organizing of Season 1 matches for HGL.

No matter how much experience you have with BB or with organizing Pickup (PU) matches, please read the post (link below) carefully, as it includes important league specific instructions.

I have sent this informative post on both official HGL threads, at "Announcements" sections here: (326590.3), and here: (326589.2). (Both posts similar, no need to read both).

There is a deadline for having arranged all your Season 1 HGL matches, and that deadline is your 1st regular season match of Season 68 Buzzerbeater league (Saturday, April 5th), but let's preferably aim getting this process finalized a lot sooner.

If you end up having any problems or questions, let's try to keep that discussion on those two official HGL threads. It is also possible to send me BBMail, if you don't want to send your question or a description of your problem to a forum.

Wagner, there is a LOT of information posted regarding the HGL.

In regards to setting the correct time for a match, could you please provide a few examples?

For example, if I were to organise a PU with you, what time (my time) should I schedule it for?

My team has +8/+6 (8:30pm) written in the thread. Does this mean that for every game I schedule I should set it for 8:30pm my time?

Perhaps providing a couple of examples for those managers who have not been following closely, or are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information.

A few brief examples would be beneficial I think.

Yes, your example is correct.
These numbers you mentioned (GMT+8/+6) do show on which time zone team is located, and latter number showing what is the time difference to "official HGL match time". Official match time for all HGL matches is 14.30, or 02.30PM Eastern European Time, EET. (EET standard time is GMT+2).

And as your reference number (with regards to official HGL match start time) is +6, it means matches will start 6 hours later in your local time, than what official match time of 2.30PM suggests.
(If it would be, say, -6, then your matches would start 6 hours earlier than 02.30PM in your local time, which would equal to 08.30AM).

However, when sending match invites, manager can basically ignore these first few numbers (in your example GMT+8/+6), as time for each manager has been assigned separately and readily calculated for them. They will see it in front of their team name.
For example my team it looks like this: GMT+2/0=02.30PM. So from this I can conclude, that I organize all matches starting at 14.30, or on other words at 02.30PM.

So to use your team as an another example, your Official Local Time for HGL matches is 20.30, or 08.30PM. This is the time that you use to schedule all your HGL matches. Why? Because you are 6 hours ahead of Eastern European Time, so when you organize your match starting at 08.30PM, time at EET time zone at that moment will be 14.30, or 02.30PM EET, which is the official start time for all HGL matches.

Now if I would be sending your team a challenge, I would again use a time designated for my team, found from the participating teams-list on official threads.
For me that is 14.30, or 02.30PM EET. When I send you such challenge, then match will start 2.30PM my time, and 08.30PM your time (which again is official local HGL match time for your team).

Example 2:
If some team from East coast USA arranges a match with time zone/personal official match time information being as follows: GMT-5/-7=07.30AM , then they would arrange all their matches so that they start at 07.30AM (important to note: in the morning)!.
It would equal to start time of HGL matches, 2.30PM EET, so all HGL matches in that round are played simultaneously.

(Side note: If Daylight Savings Time, DST, is observed in different countries at different times, this could theoretically cause "a 1 hour off"-kind of situation on some occasions when you have been the team that has accepted the match challenge, but it should only occur on such transitional periods; for instance, time difference between Finland (located on EET time zone) and Eastern USA will "normalize" to 7 hours soon as we also start observing DST on March 30th - US has already moved to using DST earlier).

Due to character limitations of posts, if we/I want to include this example to the official threads, I need to take space from other posts (as the announcement is already full).
Do you think that's necessary? Or did these examples open up the situation any better/enough? Or would you prefer to write some additional examples?

Great. thanks for that, Wagner.

So, teams can simply look at the time you have placed in brackets next to their name and make sure every game they schedule is at that time. Easy.

That was (and is) the idea. And yes, it should be easy.

Do you think I should link this post above as part of informative post, or preferably create another one on official thread(s) that has above provided example in it?

I already had this bolded text added in the official information post, in order to make it stand out:

For each team an Official Local Time is provided, which they use when sending PU match invitations. Found (before team name), here: (326590.2).
Use only this time given to your team specifically, and nothing else, when organizing Pickup matches!
