When Boss Man quit South Africa it made me the default champ, but it made the competition much less interesting.
The other reason why it's advantageous to be in a large country is that you have more rounds in the National Tournament to earn money. I'm already headed to the finals of my national tournament and the USA has at least a month left. That's another extra 200k. Plus, I'm facing a lot of weak teams that cause my home attendance to be less, which also causes a loss in revenue.
There's also the strategic disadvantage. I can't really see how my team performs against top teams with various tactics because there are no top teams to compete against. The closest I come is the defensive powerhouse (and unfortunately named) Pantyhose. They held the #5 team in the country to just 18 points today in a whole game, and have actually knocked me out of the cup the last 2 seasons, but I've beaten them 5 other times, including a sweep in the championship of our league last season.
I am at a disadvantage because of the size of my nation. Plus, it makes the game less exciting. Personally, I think that we should group any countries with less than 100 total members into a World League (there really shouldn't be so many tiny countries, put them all together and the level of competition will skyrocket) where they will remain until that country is able to recruit more members. I tried recruiting people here, but nobody cares about basketball, it's all Rugby and Footie in my area.
