My brain is exploding trying to read these 400 posts, so maybe I've lost it but how does this make sense? If you knew you were going to lose, wouldn't you want to get your opponent to TIE and not beat the crap out of you (and thus make PD worse)?

It depends on the standings. If said opponent is in direct competition for (a playoff spot, relegation, etc), then you want them to burn enthusiasm. If you're not in direct competition, you want to keep the PD down. In fact, I think the latter is much more important, because your PD affects your standings in relationship to *all* other teams, whereas said opponents enthusiasm only helps you in relationship to them.

I also think that most games don't fall into one of those categories. I particularly don't understand the mutual TiEs I've seen in the playoffs where the weaker team knew they had no chance to win on a mTiE but chose to do it anyway (you know who you are!)

I'd be surprised if I ever had a mutual TIE in the playoffs. I've certainly never asked for one.

I thought those died off with the PON/POCT changes. Def did mutual agreements prior to that. The standard enthusiasm system in the playoffs those early seasons was out of control.

Well sure. I just don't think that anyone who you're thinking "well I have no zero shot at winning this game" is going to be in direct competition with you in the standings.

I'm actually considering not making an agreement with you, so you are forced to normal and I can TIE.

See, isn't strategery fun?

Since I am too lowly for you to open your BB-Mail for, I thought I would use the forums. This is the exact BB-Mail I sent you on Dec 24, 2009

Hey,
Regardless of you accepting, I will TIE this game as I stand no chance of beating you. Good luck with the season!

Sharon

This is the email I would have sent to you today if I thought you would open your BB-Mail from me.

Hey,
Regardless of you accepting, I will TIE this game as you stand no chance of beating me. Good luck not relegating!

Sharon

Just Joking. Kinda. Well, not really.

I really am TIEing this game regardless of what you do, though. I won't be relegating, and I am pretty sure I am a lock for the playoffs. If I were you, I would build some enthus and do the same.
