S17 - SBBL - National TV Match - Big 4th quarter lift Compassvale United past Sessioes Doers 96-83.
Totally different Compassvale team if you looked at two seasons ago.
Against a team that resembles their lineup, Sessioes Doers, the CPU welcomed the challenge well. After held a narrow lead thru 40+ minutes, Compassvale finally use up their strength, dense up the painted area to make difficult for SD's driving specialist, Ricardo Paz who scored 17pts on first half, mostly inside baskets. As a result, SD's offensive flows always ended up on the person who started the flow, playmaker Van Hagebeek, who bricked most of the jumpshots.
With SD's getting cold, Chow Chun May start his work, driving and dazzling through the SD's defender, scored 10pts to extend the lead to 85-75. Although Lim Wee Min And Ricardo Paz scored next 5 pts to make it 85-80, it was CPU new acquisitions that make the clutch shot. Mel Miller hit the crucial jumpshot to make it 87-80 with less than a minute to go. SD's were still forced to take jumpshots and unable to make it, letting CPU to get away with 96-83 victory
Chun May led CPU with 26pts. Lin Baoxiang has 18pts and 13rebs. Wang Xiangjia were held to 6pts and 10rebs. Ricardo Paz led SD with 29pts. Balkhausen has 12pts and 12rebs.
Meanwhile on SLZH arena, SLZH were able to nab a crucial win over Shohoku Backers with 98-88. After a marvelous first quarter 27-16, SLZH was slowed down and let Shohoku to mount it back within 5 at 4th quarter. With SLZH lead cut to three within 30 seconds to play, Leandro Peronne drove with spinmove to the basket. He was fouled by Jason Peachey on the drive, and when the shot went in, the crowds went frenzy. Perrone completed the three point play. SLZH up by six and prevailed after Shohoku can't find the rim from downtown.
On other games, Eric United managed to run past Bobblehead at 4th quarter, and won 109-101 despite playing mostly reserve players. Rainer Mand led the team with 33pts.
Pekanbaru Jaguars finally able to nab their third straight win over Whampoa Allstars 115-72. Zhong Xuanwen, after cold for several weeks, exploded with 39pts, 13rebs and 4asts. Petrus Alexandersson has 18pts and 13rebs. Polish Karol Musial finally back to squad after out for 14days. He scored 10pts iin 15minutes of playing, drained two treys.
Konrad Krassowski led Whampoa with 31pts. With the loss, Whampoa Allstar has gave up 5 games from last 7 games, and threatened to be on relegation battle again at the end of season.
