Completely agreed the interest in the U21 team is at an all time low. Hopefully more people will not only vote but will check the results and give a damn.

Other nations with successful U21 teams often have better NT results. They go hand in hand IMO.

This is the most difficult thing about the U21 job. Results are important but the bigger responsibility in my opinion is player development. If the other teams are so much better it is up to the U21 manager to help develop a system to reduce difference in talent levels.

Of course this is very challenging and in some cases cannot be changed. It relies on an active community (which we seem to be loosing), dedicated managers (we have some but not enough), getting solid draftees and then getting them into the right hands. Being a smaller user base makes it even more difficult as we simply have less draftees and quality managers.

The "look at me, I'm right and you're wrong" diatribe is quite annoying. That said, this win was great. Could be the first decent (or in this case, much more than decent) win I've seen compared to many mistakes. Latvia definitely looks extraordinarily better than us and had a huge GS advantage.

If I'm being critical or fair, it really looks like we "wasted" enthusiasm on the surface. The biggest reason we had an ability to win that game -- even though sparky got 2/2 GDP right and used more effort -- is that Latvia's manager fucked up and missed 2/2 GDP. Latvia had a 100% chance of winning if they didn't touch GDP. Not faulting sparky for winning, though.

There is no wasted enthusiasm
apparently if you kept it at 5 or better it gets reset into next round
Sparky knew that the Latvia manager loves to guess every game and made sure he would be wrong
Both of his big wins the last 2 seasons have been partly because of mis-management on the other side
but you have to study the tendencies and use it to your advantage
That's not luck

Straight up though...Talent for talent
Canada should have gone 1-2 and it should not have been close

Part of Canada's problems is that the top end talent does end up in top managers hands
The top potential guys and they cross train plenty
and while we believe mostly as a group that well rounded players are better
don't know that it works in U21
Their big salary players dwarf ours in certain skills.
I know Sparky stays in touch with current managers
they either won't listen when it comes to GS (You can see that easily)
or have plans of their own when it comes to training
Scouting each season right now shows many of the same type of players
Fact is none of them is dominant in anything

And one more thing
its pretty obvious there's a core group who would disagree with me even if I said exactly what you were thinking.
Ya'll would just take up the other side.
What you don't need to do is make my opinion Sparky's
Got a mind of his own that boy as you can see by how different our 2 personal teams are run.
We both deserve our own thoughts.
Be critical of mine if you must, but be fair and judge the boy on his own merits.
And expect as you would that I will back him
that's the real world, this is not.

The biggest thing is that we need to be more proactive and get more trainees put on the transfer list. We need to get every possible trainable superstar+ Canadian who isn't being trained to be put up for sale. This is where we lose 95% of the prospects.

If we achieved that, there are some good user candidates in Canada that could transform Canada's training big time. But they'd have to want to do it and be committed to it. Even if these teams could somehow grab 1 MVP+ Canadian trainee each, we'd be set up pretty well.

User candidates:

-LPP (24945) (mad respect that his team is still so stunningly good at their ages, but it'd probably be for the best if he rebuilt with a Canadian trainee)

-sg united (24985) (due to him apparently losing interest in the game. only if he wanted to do it and stay committed.)

-Mighty Ballers (33147) (possibly the richest user in all of BB. 6-0 in D.III so it's possible he's starting his ascension to the unbeatable now.)

-North East Point Toastifiers (24838) (season 2 team, chilling out in D.III with no real players)

-The Aristocrats (33776) (I know this guy and it could be worth a try)

-85 FG% (33461) (I also know this guy or at least his old team from season 12-23 (34062) and it could be worth a try)

-BB-Mark (24809) (doubtful but worth a try)

-Mod-ouefette (24818) (doubtful but worth a try)

Teams like Griffins, Pszczyna, RiP, Beener, Beanerz and more are already in on training with several of those probably looking for even more Canadian trainees to become available.

Do we have a list of every superstar+ prospect of any age (age 18 to 26) with realistic NT potential? If so, I'd give each owner a basic copy and paste PM about how beneficial it is to train or sell their Canadian trainees.

Even if we don't have a list, maybe I'll try to compile one. I seem to have a bunch of time.

Yes, we do. its the depth chart on the offsite. mostly from MVP up but there are some superstars.
This draft class is mostly in good hands excluding 1-2 players (1 in a team going bot being saved by NT and if I remember correctly some managers refuse to train or sell, but neither of those prospects is top notch)
