While JS is of key importance for any guard, RNG focuses on long distance shots, so I would think JR is of greater importance, provided you already have a good JS skill. Not sure if that made any sense, but what I'm trying to say is JR is of less importance when you're taking mid-range shots, but essential when you're taking more 3's.

Does handling help jump shot accuracy?

It seems logical that handling has an indirect effect on the number of shot opportunities which may or may not result in a difference in shot percentage stats, but for handling to directly influence jump shot accuracy gives me thoughts of someone hanging onto the ball and flying to the hoop like in NBA Jam ;) I could be wrong, but I'm just saying.

From the game manual:

Handling: Allows the player to avoid losing the ball to the opposing defense while dribbling. Important against a pressing defense (to be added later) or, in general, against good perimeter defense. Teams with good handling will have more success at creating quality shot opportunities.

So basically, it helps create open looks, but it doesn't actually help with your shooting ability once you have those looks.

Interesting they would mention "perimeter defense". Are we to understand then that handling is not important when driving in for a layup?

From the FAQ:

"Handling – Handling determines how a good a player is at keeping possession of the ball. A higher handling skill means that your team will have an increased offensive flow and a greater opportunity at creating quality shot opportunities. If you have a player with poor handling that player is more likely to turn the ball over."

Hmm. Might that not be the DRIVING skill?

Just asking.

No, no it wouldn't. Driving skill creates the opportunity. It's the difference between trying a layup and pulling up short for a jumper. However, you do have to dribble when driving. I guess there's no chance of having the ball stolen once the game engine has decided you successfully broke the defense for a layup?
