my 36 years old centre keep losing his ID this season, while IS and REB remain the same.

he was estimated to worth about 1,250,000 at the start of this season, but now the estimate is 400,000. You can see him in my roster.

Why did he lose JS and ID skills easily? by random?

my own experience suggests, short term, the drops appear random -- i had a hot shot 33 year old SF drop 3 levels in OD in one week -- but those were the only drops he had all season. i've had other players not drop until 34.

but over a longer period of time the skills follows a curve (i'm not much at math, and can only visually describe it) that generally slowly ascends or accelerates. this describes the pattern of my one long-term experiment, a player that went from 120-something points to 80-something over 8 seasons, with the pace changing from one to three drops a season in the low 30s to 7 or eight by the late 40s. having a trainer with career extension is a must.

when i evaluate players on the TL, fwiw, i factor in a few drops if the player is 34 or 35, and several if older, and that the first skills to drop will be tangential to their core skills (inside players lose OD and PA, outside positions lose SB and RB, that sort of thing).

one other thing: i find no support for this view on the boards whatsoever, but i also think the skill drops are balanced in some ways by the rise in experience, so that these drops are not as catastrophic as i had once feared.

Hello,

if a player belongs to a bot team, does he lose his skills normally? Check this player Indulis Vergelis ((9605625)). He never had a high salary, but i think that it seems like having no drops during last seasons. Am i right? If yes, is there any intention to be made any chage on that? A user from his league is confused because Vergelis is the Leader Scorer and that's why i am writing this post.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

No bot players do not lose skills. The reason is because they do not get training on Fridays. And the reason behind that is to make training faster by not doing it on thousands of bot teams.

I guessed so. Thanks for your confirmation.

Did anyone of you train a 33+ years old player?

Sometimes when I saw his skill dropped, I really want to give him training to improve that skill. Say, if his ID dropped, then train ID. Does it work?

My PG, Sammy Lucero, dropped his passing skill recently, can I give him training to restore his passing skill to wondrous level?

i've had more than one instance of an older player popping in skills. i don't ever try to train an older player, so i figure the pops were results of the random training that occurs each week. not sure what to make of this: the impact of random training is divorced from age? players can still be trained? regardless, a most pleasant surprise.

I had a 37yo pop earlier in the season. Oldest I've seen. I'm not training him but as it was a week I did two position training and don't have 6 trainees, I don't worry about who gets the extra slots so he did play 48 minutes. He hasn't dropped that skill yet either and its been several weeks.
